WIRED.com: The Best President’s Day Deals 2024 – An Overview of Deals and Deals that aren’t

Shopping holidays are often filled with made-up deals on junk gadgets and bunk gizmos. But dare I say that this year’s Presidents’ Day deals are a pleasant surprise. Seriously! There are some WIRED-approved products that have matching prices on Black Friday.

There are many other deals that we’ve rounded up. You can snag MacBooks for less than $1,000 right now, and we have a strong selection of routers and mesh systems on sale. Be sure to also check out our Best Presidents’ Day Mattress Deals when you’re done scrolling here.

The magazine is available for $5, and the price is $25 off. This includes unlimited access to WIRED.com, full Gear coverage, and subscriber-only newsletters. Subscriptions help fund the work we do every day.

The Google Pixel 8 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is Five Hundred Dollars Lower than We’ve Ever Seeed Before

We like the Google Pixel 7A (8/10, WIRED Recommends) a lot. We’ve rated it the best Pixel phone for most people, the best cheap phone, and the best Android phone for your money. It last fell to this price during Black Friday. If you’re shopping for a phone this weekend, it’ll be hard to find a better overall deal than this one.

Stop the presses, because this is officially (checks notes) five whole dollars lower than we’ve ever seen before. The Pixel 8 (7/10, WIRED Recommends) regularly bounces between full price and $550, so whichever way you slice it, this deal is solid. The Pixel 8 is the latest flagship from Google, and it maintains the excellent camera system Pixels are known for. The Pixel 8 Pro is also on sale at $799 ($200 off), and it has some additional perks like the 5X optical zoom camera, which you can read more about in our Pixel Buying Guide.

This is a solid deal on the best Alexa speaker for most people. If you don’t already have enough smart speakers around, you should stick to Amazon’s echo system. The 4th-generation Amazon Echo (8/10, WIRED Recommends) has better sound quality than its predecessors.

This is a match for the lowest price we’ve seen in a security camera, which was found in the Best Security Cameras guide. Even if it is a little on the bright side, the footage is clear. There’s also two-way audio, but it’s a bit laggy. A reminder to turn off the camera if you don’t want to be charged later is a good way to make sure it’s not on. $3 per month is what the subscriptions start at.

We’ve seen this drop to $30 before. Today’s price is still all right. The Amazon-owned video doorbell is mentioned in the video doorbell buying guide. Video quality is OK, the field of view is a tad limited, and notifications aren’t as smart. But you don’t need to set up wiring if you don’t want to—the doorbell can run on two AA batteries—and it’s about as affordable as you can get. This product comes with a free trial to a subscription that costs $3 a month, so don’t forget to cancel it if you want to avoid future charges.

The Amazon Fire Stick is a Cheaper than the Pixel Buds Pro ($15/30$), but the AirPods ($11/10, WIRED Recommends) are Hot Foam

It’s worth noting that this is not the lowest price we’ve tracked—the tablet was $15 cheaper in the past, and Amazon devices go on sale all the time. But the Fire Tablet HD 10 (7/10, WIRED Recommends) is the best Fire tablet for most people. The Fire tablet series isn’t terrible for the money, but it isn’t worth your time. You have to grab a MicroSD card to extend the base 32 gigabytes of storage.

This deal price matches the best we’ve seen, including during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales of 2023. Amazon’s operating system favors its content, like Prime Video. But if you don’t mind clicking extra buttons to get to other apps, this is our favorite Amazon Fire Stick.

These headphones were cheaper on Black Friday, but they don’t usually fall below $150 outside of the biggest sale holidays. The Pixel Buds Pro (9/10, WIRED Recommends) are truly excellent earbuds. They’re our top wireless earbuds recommendation for Android users, thanks in part to their great sound and top-notch noise-canceling capabilities.

While the price is still astoundingly high, the AirPods Max (8/10, WIRED Recommends) don’t usually fall below $450. Equally astounding is the audio quality. They’re some of our favorite noise-canceling headphones on the market, with good build quality and great sound. To put it nicely, hot garbage, is the flimsy carrying case. Amazon sells some third-party options you may want to consider.

Best Wireless Headsets Guide and Best iPad Accessories Guide for Running and Playing with Smart Devices (WiFi), the Pixel Watch 2, and the 9th-Generation Apple iPad

This is the best discount so far, because the first iteration of the device, the Pixel Watch 2, was released in October. Right now, it’s on sale for $200, which is $50 off of the original price, and it’s better in nearly every way. The interface is swift, the fitness and workout tracking is reliable, and the overall comfort is good. There are some things that are different than the proprietary charge and repairability. It’s not possible to use any phone with the Apple product.

The price of different colors is very close to the price on the store, which makes it one of the best we’ve seen. The Watch6 Classic is the only model that doesn’t have the rotating-Bore feature we reviewed. It’s a natural fit for Samsung smartphone owners, with a robust suite of health trackers and a snazzy round design. Some features are unavailable if you use other phones. It’s also not compatible with iPhones.

The Jabra Elite 8 Active are our favorite wireless headphones for working out. They’re comfortable and secure, with excellent sound and noise cancellation. They’re also waterproof and have solid battery life, and the onboard control buttons aren’t easy to activate by accident. There are more recommendations in the best wireless headphones guide.

It’s not as cheap as in the past but it’s still a good deal on a gaming headset. The Logitech G Pro X is a fantastic headset, with crystal-clear voice quality and fantastic sound.

The 10th-generation Apple iPad (7/10, WIRED Review) is listed in our iPad Buying Guide as “The Awkward Choice.” The base cost is high so this price makes it more attractive. There’s finally a USB-C port, and it’s faster than previous versions. If you don’t mind a smaller screen, the 9th-generation iPad is our top pick and is on sale for $249 (though it falls to this price quite often.) Our Best iPad accessories guide will help you finish off your new slate.

This is a match of the Black Friday pricing we saw last year. The best robot vacuum according to our tester was theroborock Q5 Pro+. WIRED reviews editor Adrienne She’s tested nearly every vacuum she can find and she says the Roborock Q5+ is her mainstay. This version is dually a mop and a broom, and when it’s done autonomously navigating your floors, or at your command, it’ll empty its trash. I don’t even do that! I am no better than arobovac.

Verloop’s Favorite Slippers for Small Spaces: A Review of Best Office Chairs in the Wired Editor’s Digest

Verloop makes some of our favorite slippers. They’re made from deadstock yarn, which reduces textile waste, and the patterns are eye-catching and adorable. They feel as good as they look. Right now a pair of Flower Knit Sock Slippers drops to $39 ($16 off) after coupon code COZY, but several other sizes and styles are on sale too.

The Steelcase Gesture is one of the top upgrade picks in the Best Office Chairs guide. It’s supremely comfortable, even if you sit like a goblin throughout the day. It also has an excellent 12-year warranty. The deal is part of a larger Steelcase sale—just keep in mind that you’ll want to avoid the Series 1.

The total cost will vary depending on the fabric and arm options you choose, but this deal is a solid one (and rare). The Humanscale Path is our top office chair pick for small spaces. It’s still comfortable and luxurious, but it doesn’t have a huge footprint—unlike most of the options you’ll find when you’re shopping.

The modern Tyler sofa was made by Benchmade. We say as much in our Best Couches guide. You can even get a full size of the footprint so you can make sure the sofa fits in your space. WIRED reviewer Scott Gilbertson says this is the best-looking and most comfortable couch he’s ever sat on.
