Musk didn’t throw out his political ambitions despite downplaying them. He told the Post he is not done with DOGE and will focus a bit more like tackling projects with the highest gain for the pain, which still means lots of good things in terms of reducing waste and fraud.

Musk came back to Texas for a launch without a hat. Musk talked about his company’s plans to bring humans to Mars and build a base on the Moon. “We should be going 1,000 times farther, and going to Mars,” Musk said. “And if we are gonna go to the Moon, I think we should do a Moon base, or something that’s the next level beyond Apollo.”
The Washington Post caught up with Musk at his headquarters in Starbase, Texas, where he said his company had big ambitions to get to Mars. Musk told the outlet that spaceX is hardcore. “But if we’re not ultra hardcore, how are we going to get to Mars? You aren’t going to get to Mars in 40 hours a week.
Musk talked about the uphill battle he had trying to get things done during his time in DC and the negative sentiment associated with the nearly wholesale destruction of several government agencies by DOGE. He said that Dove is becoming the whipping boy for everything. Something bad would happen, and we would be blamed for it even if we did not play a part in it.

Elon Musk appeared alongside President Trump for a press conference in the Oval Office Friday, perhaps for the last time, with a noticeable black eye that he says he got from his young son.

After thanking Musk for his service, Trump presented him with a golden key with the White House logo on it. He also cast doubt on those who are hoping that Musk would be riding off into the sunset for good.
Elon gave a wonderful service. Nobody is fond of him, Trump said. “And he had to go through the slings and the arrows, which is a shame because he’s an incredible patriot.”
