Stephen “tWitch” Boss: A Deeply Loved DJ and a Longtime Favorite DJ at the End of the Musical Life
Stephen “tWitch” Boss, the longtime and beloved dancing DJ on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and a former contestant on “So You Think You Can Dance,” has died at the age of 40.
Holker Boss said that she had to share her husband Stephen’s demise with everyone. “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the center of our family, our father, and an inspiration to his fans.
She said that he left a legacy and his positive impact will continue to be felt. There won’t be a day when we won’t honor his memory. We want to keep ourselves and our kids out of the public eye during this difficult time.
“Twitch brought joy and love to people all over the world through music and through dance. My heart is heavy today for his family and all of those who knew and loved him,” Washington also posted on Instagram.

After graduating from Lee High School in Montgomery, he studied Dance Performance at Southern Union State Community College and Chapman University.
He talked about his upbringing and his relationship with his father while speaking with Lewis Howes six years ago.
“I have always been that type ‘Don’t tell me what I won’t do,’” Boss said. “I remember talking to [his father] outside of his work in the parking lot and telling him ‘Hey, I’m joining the dance team. He went on to say that he was supposed to do this, even though he didn’t know what it meant.
Becoming a runner up on “So You Think You Can Dance” in 2008 marked the beginning of his rise to fame and he would later return to serve as a judge for the dance competition.
He held his job as DJ for Ellen’s show until this year when it went off the air. Boss was also a coexecutive producer of the show.
Boss told People in February that they were together ever since they shared a dance at the wrap party ofSo You Think You Can Dance.
“There was no dialogue, there was no conversation or a first hangout. Literally, we danced and we were together holding hands the very next day,” Holker Boss added. “And we never looked back.”

The dancer-DJ also appeared in films like “Step Up: All In” and “Magic Mike XXL” and was featured in Disney+’s “The Hip Hop Nutcracker,” released this year. He was a judge on the dance competition show and had placed as a runner-up.
Gene Kelly was the greatest of all time. Gene Kelly is a guy. I really like Fred Astaire, but he was so smooth, that it was great. He was so classy,” Boss said in an interview with the Associated Press in 2014. “But Gene Kelly — he could be like somebody’s dad, who just decided to get up off the couch and dance around and clean the kitchen up.”
