But I guarantee you behind the scenes, there’s so much work going on.”

Other angles are taking longer to understand. Law enforcement wants local businesses to come forward with information about the purchase of a fixed-blade knife so they can help in the investigation. The knife description was not provided by any businesses as of Tuesday.

He told CNN there could potentially be more than one person responsible for the killings. He stated that police believe it was a targeted attack due to the fact that two people were in the house and that there was evidence at the scene.

Investigators looked “extensively” into hundreds of pieces of information about victim Kaylee Goncalves having a stalker, but “have not been able to verify or identify a stalker,” police said in a Facebook post Tuesday.
Police said the roommates who made the call and their friends who talked to the police have been excluded from the investigation. A man seen on surveillance video standing near two of the victims has also been eliminated as a suspect, as well as a driver who took two of the victims home.

There was enough probable cause to get the warrant and investigators from the Moscow Police Department, the Idaho State Police and the FBI worked on it. The FBI and the Pennsylvania State Police made an arrest after the arrest warrant was issued.
A law enforcement source told CNN that the arrest was made by the Pennsylvania State Police and the FBI in northeastern Pennsylvania.
The arrest comes a day after the police said they have received over twenty thousand tips and conducted over 300 interviews.

A Ph.D. student by the same name is listed in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Washington State University, which is a short drive across the state line from the University of Idaho. Messages seeking more information were left for officials at WSU.
The public was asked to provide information about the white car that was thought to be in the immediate area of the killings. Police previously said that after that call there was an overwhelming amount of tips.

Goncalves, 21, of Rathdrum, Idaho; Mogen, 21, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Kernodle, 20, of Post Falls, Idaho; and Chapin, 20, of Mount Vernon, Washington, were members of the university’s Greek system and close friends. The three people lived in a home with two other people. He was at the house that night, he had been dating Kernodle.

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2020 and earlier this year completed his “graduate studies for the master of arts in criminal justice program,” according to a university spokesperson.
The now-removed Reddit post said, “In particular, this study seeks to understand the story behind your most recent criminal offense, with an emphasis on your thoughts and feelings throughout your experience.”
A professor at DeSales University, one of the principal investigators of the study, was unavailable for comment. The university has not responded to comment.

“He’s interested in this, but the ideation of committing a violent crime had to already be there in order to motivate him to commit the crime,” O’Toole said. “So, this was kind of a conduit to explore what he was already interested in doing.”

MOSCOW, Idaho — The man accused of killing four University of Idaho college students received a new license plate for his car five days after the murders, according to records released Wednesday.
The first stop was near Indianapolis and when Mr. and his father arrived, a deputy with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department pulled them over. The body camera footage released on Wednesday captured the deputy asking where the two were headed. In response, Mr. Kohberger’s father said that they were coming from Washington and had been talking about the police standoff that was unfolding near the Washington State campus that day.
The officer spoke with the man’s father who said that he and his son had been discussing the death of a cop in Washington State University and that it was horrible.
The police shooting that they were discussing does not appear to have any connection to the four fatal stabbings that occurred about a month earlier in Idaho, just across the border from the W.S.U. campus. The man is now charged with four counts of murder.
The Pennsylvania State Police plane landed at the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport and Mr. Kohberger was booked into the Latah County jail.
The police in Indiana and Moscow, Idaho did not have any idea that a white car was spotted near the murder scene or that the person who died was Mr. Kohberger.
The deputy told him to do a favor and not follow too closely, but then gave the driver his license and let them go.
