Prime Day Specials: A Guide to Finding The Best Discounted Laptops for October 11th and October 12th (AMAZON Prime Day 2.0)

In addition to the latest deals, we’ll share each discounted model’s best features (and downsides) to give you more clarity during your shopping journey. And if you need to do more research, you can also check out our guides to the best laptops on the market and the top cheap laptops as well.

October 11 and October 12 are the dates for the second AMAZON PRIME Day of the year. You may wish to wait to buy a new laptop, since we may see even more great discounts. You can start preparing for Prime Day 2.0 with our guide to finding the best Prime Day deals.

Storage is a key area in which the M1 model of laptop is better than the other models. The M2 MacBook Air is slower than its predecessor due to the fact that it is stored in a single chip. The display notch on the menu bar can make it more difficult to navigate, as well as the fact that the port selection isn’t great.

If that doesn’t bother you, however, we’re currently seeing the best discount yet on the M2- powered MacBook Air. Right now, Amazon is selling the dark blue “midnight” and cream-colored starlight model with 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, an eight-core CPU, and a 30W power brick for $1,099, a $100 discount. All shades are sold by B&H Photo at a discounted price.

An overview of apple-macbook-lenovo-acer-deal-sale-models based on a research conducted with OpticalCanvas

The laptop has several nice features, including a comfortable keyboard and excellent trackpad, and it comes with excellent performance. Just note its 720p webcam isn’t particularly good, so if a high-resolution webcam matters a lot to you, you may want to buy one separately. Also, be aware that, due to the limitations of the M1 chip, you can only use one external display at a time and port selection is also limited.

At the moment, the MacBook Pro lineup consists of the newer models which were released late in 2021, as well as the 13-inch MacBook Pro that just underwent a revision with the M2 processor.

The 14-inchYoga 9i is our favorite laptop because of its multimedia capabilities. The speakers on the convertible are of the highest quality, and they deliver the best sound we have ever heard for a laptop this size. The battery life is able to last all day and it comes with a built in stylus, which makes it great for writing. It comes with some bloatware that can be a challenge to uninstall, and we found the large screen to be cramped and dim.

Acer’s Aspire 5 offers a nice port selection and a backlit keyboard that’s comfortable to use at an affordable price point, but it also comes with poor battery life and bloatware.

The Acer Aspire 5 is another budget-friendly laptop to consider. The 15.6-inch laptop doesn’t offer Thunderbolt support, but it does feature a wide port selection that includes one USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1, two USB 3.1 Gen 1, one USB 2.0, one HDMI 2.0, one Ethernet, and a power port. The affordable laptop has a sound quality that punches above its weight class and a backlit keyboard that is comfortable to use.

Review of the 2020 iPad Air and a Limited-time GeForce Now Discount on a Cloud Game Streaming Service for PCs and Macs

You agree to our Privacy Notice if you submit your email. This site is protected by reCAPTCHA and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

While the 10.9-inch display of the iPad Air is nearly the same size as the 11-inch iPad Pro, there are some things you’re giving up by not opting for the pricier Pro. The iPad Air uses TouchID via a side-mounted fingerprint sensor built into the power button, while the Pros get the convenience of FaceID. If you need a lot of local storage on your devices, the iPad Air should be great, especially at a nicer price than the Pro.

Having an OLED 4K TV on your wish list used to be a dream that few could afford to make come true, but that’s not the case anymore. Best Buy sells the 48-inchLG A2 for $5599.99 in the $600 range. The previous-gen A1 never dropped so low in price, so it’s great to see that this special discount has stuck around for the past couple of weeks. This OLED TV is one of Best Buy’s top early Black Friday deals, and it’s eligible for the retailer’s extended holiday return period that lasts until January 14th, 2023.

If you have been considering a new iPad, this 2020 iPad Air could be worth a look because the stock has run out at practically every major retailer. This deal spurred some fun chatter in The Verge’s Slack, especially about how it compares to the new 10th-gen iPad. For $100 less, this iPad Air has similar specs, plus compatibility with the superior second-gen Apple Pencil. Read our review of the 2020 iPad Air.

Nvidia announced a limited-time discount on a subscription to its GeForce Now cloud game streaming service. The Priority tier is just $29.99 for six months, compared to $49.99. This tier offers 1080p / 60 frames per second gameplay, six-hour game sessions (compared to just one-hour sessions for the free tier), and access to a faster virtual gaming PC that can display ray-traced graphics. The promotion ends on November 20th.

In case you aren’t aware, GeForce Now lets you remotely play games that you own on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft Connect through one cloud streaming portal. You can download the app to your phone or computer, and use it to access them over the internet or the cellular network. Connecting via ethernet will give you the best results, but I’ve had good experiences with streaming via Wi-Fi.

The 2021 iPad Pro model is coming on sale: discounts on iPads and other expensive gadgets, with a special discount for fans of gear

Apple devices are expensive, and they rarely go on sale—at the Apple store anyway. Third-party sellers like Best Buy and Amazon do offer discounts from time to time, including right now. A number of Apple devices, including iPad, MacBooks, Apple Watches and other accessories, are available at discounted prices. The majority of these deals are better than we saw on Cyber Monday, but most of them will end on Thursday.

There is a special deal for fans of gear, getting a 1-year subscription to WIRED for $5. You’re allowed unlimited access to WIRED.com and our print magazine. We rely on subscriptions to fund the work we do.

The iPad Mini (8/10, WIRED Recommends) makes an excellent travel companion. It’s small enough to slip into my tote or backpack, and the 8.3-inch display is great for reading ebooks or watching movies. Equipped with an A15 Bionic processor (the same one powering last year’s iPhone 13), it’s fast enough to handle both taxing apps and games. You can use the Apple Pencil as a notebook if you have second-generation Apple Pencil support. This was a solid deal, even though it fell to this price for Cyber Monday.

This is the 2021 iPad Pro model with the company’s M1 processor. The new sixth-generation iPad Pro (7/10, WIRED Review) announced last month is a very incremental update; save yourself some cash and grab this version instead.

During Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the stylus was on sale for $89, though it has rarely been on sale before. As small as it is, this is the next best discount we’ve seen. The only iPad that works with it is the 9th-gen iPad.

Low-Budget Second-Generation Apple Watch SE and Apple AirPods Pro (WIRED Recommendations) for Video Editors

The 16-inch MacBook Pro is similar to the 14-inch model, but with a bigger screen. This thing is huge and somewhat difficult to travel with, but the extra screen room can be nice, especially for apps with a lot going on—perfect for video editors. This model was $100 cheaper for Cyber Monday, but if you missed that this is still a decent deal.

We recommend the second-generation Apple Watch SE to most people—especially if you don’t need the complex capabilities of the Series 8 like the ECG sensor, temperature sensor, or the ability to check your blood oxygen. It can track your health and fitness with the latest S8 chip, and you can get crash detection and the refreshed compass app as well. It’s compatible with WatchOS 9 too, which means you won’t miss out on any of the latest software features. The larger 44-mm version is also on sale for $269 ($20 off).

The Apple Watch (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is our favorite Apple Watch in the lineup. There’s a Blood Oxygen level sensor, and a heart rate monitor at the store. Apple had a wrist-based feature that tracks your skin temperature. You can use this to track your period and fertility. This deal was $30 better during Cyber Monday, but if you missed that, you can still save a few bucks.

This deal was $29 cheaper during Cyber Monday. The second-gen AirPods Pro (9/10, WIRED Recommends) come with upgrades like improved noise canceling and better battery life—you’ll get six hours with the buds and 24 hours in the case, which will certainly get you through a full workday. The ability to sync with Apple’s Find My app and to charge it on an Apple Watch puck are included with the charging case. Our best wireless earbuds guide is available.

We’ve seen this dip a few dollars lower, but this is still a small discount on Apple’s official wireless charger for iPhone models with MagSafe (iPhone 12 and newer). It charges fast because it’s the right spot for the best power transfer. It is difficult to use your phone while it is charging unless you are next to where it is plugged in.

The MagSafe Duo is a great choice if you have both an iPhone and an Apple Watch, with respective spots for both. It folds in half too, which makes it really easy to travel with. It’s just far too expensive for what it does, but this deal makes it a bit easier on the wallet.

Low Price Deals on an Upgraded XPS 13 Keyboard for the Fourth and Fifth Generations: The Case for a Lightweight, Versatile Phone

This keyboard will fit the 11-inch iPad Pro (first, second, third, and fourth generation) and iPad Air (fourth and fifth generation). This slim keyboard doesn’t offer any tactile feedback on the keys, but many people love this keyboard for the fact that it’s silent.

Depending on where you live, it’s either beginning to look a little like spring or completely encased in snow. That is an awful, awful dog. There are some deals we have for you. Those in the throes of winter might want a new laptop or iPad to help them stay entertained. For those of you in warmer climes, now is a great time of year to stock up on outdoor gear. Online retailers are clearing out last year’s stock and discounting this year’s items to lure customers in.

This deal is the lowest price we’ve seen for our favorite Android smartphone, and it usually only dips during big sale events. The Pixel 6A has a nice screen, excellent performance, and good cameras, making it an excellent choice at this price. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better cheap phone.

Here’s your chance to get an upgraded Dell XPS 13 for the price of the base model (5/10, WIRED Review). The base model uses a chip that is lacking in power. This deal features a more powerful i7 chip and doubles the RAM to 16 gigabytes, giving you the power you need for more demanding workloads. You also get a slightly larger, 512-gigabyte SSD. There are some limitations to the latest XPS 13, but this deal overcomes most of them.

Samsung recently updated the Shield to include this new 4-TB model. Right now you can pick it up for the same price as the 2-TB version. The Shield series of cameras doesn’t have a fingerprint reader, but it has anIP65 rating and is impervious to dust and sand. It’s a good choice in your bag.

The Blue-Brown Camp Chair I: The Best Camp Chair Ever, and a Warm Beanie for All the Men’s Needs

If you don’t mind the blue-brown theme, this chair is the perfect way to hang out around camp. It might be large and awkward to fold, but if you cram everyone you love onto it in front of a fire it’s all worth it.

I tested this chair back when it was first released, and I like it, but at full price, I found it tough to recommend. It is still not cheap, but this is the best camp chair I’ve ever seen and it still packs down very nicely.

The puffy vest is impressively warm and stuffs down like a feathered jacket. The deal varies by size and price, but there are a good selection available. The discount isn’t as good as it could be, but the sizes are limited so the men’s sizing is on sale.

A great beanie is made of Merino. It doesn’t itch, it breathes better than synthetics. A ton of things merino are on sale right now at Backcountry.com, but I’m highlighting this beanie because everyone needs a nice warm hat. It’s 100 percent merino wool unlike other beanies for the price which are blends of fibers.

Best Binoculars for Hiking, Running, and Brewing: The AeroPress Outdoors Suggests a 10×30, High-powered, Low-cost, Energy Lunch Chair

The foam pad is a good reason to have one, and I would write about it if I had the space. I know inflatable pads are tiny and light, but do they also double as a lunch chair? Closed cell foam makes this pad dense, but light and the accordion-folding design makes it easy to strap to your pack, where it’s ready when you need it.

It is possible to use the AeroPress outdoors and still make a great cup of coffee. It’s one of the simplest ways of making coffee. The AeroPress is a great way to upgrade your coffee experience if you are just getting started. It’s also more capable than most people realize—it can even brew something very close to espresso.

This is a good deal on Nikon’s entry-level Prostaff series binoculars. 10×30 is an ideal size for hiking since it’s high-powered enough to see well and is light enough that I don’t mind wearing them all day. See more options in our Best Binoculars guide.

The Frame TV from Best Buy: Spring Cleaning With iRobot Roomba j7 Plus & Tribit’s StormBox Micro

We are in the final days of winter, despite the fact that there are snowdrops around the Hollywood sign. If you want to start cleaning up this year, Best Buy has the iRobot Roomba i7 Plus on sale for $400 off. While an older device that lacks features like obstacle avoidance — which our favorite robovac, iRobot’s newer Roomba j7, offers — the Roomba i7 Plus still boasts a variety of features that makes cleaning faster and more efficient. The robovac, for example, can learn your home’s layout so it only cleans certain areas and can even empty its own bin. Combining that with support for the Amazon voice assistant and the internet search engine will give you a vacuum that will make cleaning easy this spring. Read our review.

Tribit’s StormBox Micro is a small Bluetooth speaker that offers great sound for its size and can attach to a variety of objects using its built-in strap.

Prefer to laze about in front of the TV instead of doing anything active? We feel you, which is why we recommend you check out the current discount on the Frame TV. A range of art can be seen on the 4K TV without being in use thanks to the panel’s anti-glare coating. The Frame is not only a pretty piece of home decor, it also has an impressive QLED TV with a 120Hz refresh rate, and support for several streaming apps.
