The Disney Parental Rights in Education Act, a New Quasi-Government Law, and the Disney World Resort Oversight District
DeSantis told his supporters this week that Disney’s opposition to the Parental Rights in Education Act was only a mild annoyance, and that the motivation for punishing the company was due to it injecting sexuality into the programming for young kids. He thinks that the new board might be able to influence Disney business decisions by offering park discounts for Florida residents and altering its entertainment offerings.
Lawmakers changed course after they realized a disruption of Reedy Creek’s debt and contracts may have violated the state law that created the tax district. Instead, DeSantis appointees will be in charge of the district’s long-standing powers to tax, build and borrow money for projects and services around Disney’s vast footprint in Orange and Osceola counties. It also renames Reedy Creek as the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, restricts its use of eminent domain and removes never-used powers that could have allowed Disney to build its own airport or a nuclear plant.
The corporate world ends today, according to DeSantis, who spoke at a Reedy Creek fire station. A new sheriff will lead accountability in town.
The members include a local elections lawyer and a school board member’s wife.
In a statement to CNN after the bill passed the state legislature earlier this month, Jeff Vahle, the president of Walt Disney World Resort, said the company was “ready to work within this new framework, and we will continue to innovate, inspire and bring joy to the millions of guests who come to Florida to visit Walt Disney World each year.”
“Disney came out against something that was really just about protecting young kids, and making sure that students are able to go to school learning to read, write, add, subtract, and not having a teacher tell them that they can change their gender,” DeSantis said Monday. “And I think most parents agree with that. It was only a small annoyance. After the dust settled on that, we realized that there was a movement within the corporation itself.
The company donated during the election. Disney got an exemption from a law that was intended to crack down on big tech companies, according to reports.
The bill’s central point is the appointment of five people to a state board who will look after municipal services that are provided by Disney World.
The new quasi-government board may not be able to have a say in Disney content — say, which characters the company creates or what’s included in its next movie script. It can decide when and how it can build critical projects.
The governor said the five board members include people who “very much want to see Disney be what Walt envisioned,” implying that Disney’s values wouldn’t be negatively impacted.
The Reedy Creek Improvement District: A Disney World Splash Mountain “Beta” campaign to halt COVID-19 and a boycott of the water supply
There is a zone on nearly 25,000 acres in the middle of two counties. Disney’s investment in the Reedy Creek Improvement District resulted in electricity, water, roads and police.
Disney did not immediately reply to NPR’s request for comment, but the company had previously told media that it wouldn’t fight the government takeover.
But the relationship between the two started to sour that same year after Disney took a stricter stance on preventing the spread of COVID-19, mandating its workers show proof of vaccination and its theme park guests continue to wear face coverings.
Disney has been criticized by conservatives for making changes to its parks and films to make them more inclusive. The petition accusing Disney World’s Splash Mountain of being “stereotypical racist” gained more than twenty thousand signatures.
A fundraising point was turned into a statement by DeSantis. A month later, he introduced legislation on revoking Disney’s special tax status.
There is no evidence that a drop in testosterone affects sexual orientation, despite a drop in testosterone levels in men in recent decades. Likewise, there is no evidence that estrogen in the water supply, for which birth control pills account for a statistically insignificant amount, affects sexual orientation. Alex Jones said that chemicals in the water were turning the frog gay, sparking a conspiracy theory about whether tap water could turn people gay.
Why are there so many homosexuals today? The answer to some questions of a conservative conservative politician, M. D. Peri, director of the Reedy Creek Improvement District
The Republican governor, who is from Florida, has appointed a former pastor to be one of five people who will be in charge of the Reedy Creek Improvement District.
So why are there so many homosexuals today? There are many reasons that are given. The increase in estrogen might be said by some. You know, there’s estrogen in the water from birth control pills. They can’t get it out,” Peri baselessly said in a January 2022 Zoom discussion, later put on YouTube. The level of testosterone in America has declined over the past 10 years. You know, maybe that is a part of it.

The Rise and Fall of the Romans, the Rise of the Evil, and the History of the World from the Viewpoint of the Biblical Perspective
“But the big part I would suggest to you, based upon what it’s saying here, is the removal of constraint,” he continued. “So our society provided the constraint. And so, which is the responsibility of a society to constrain people from doing evil? You can remove the constraints and then evil will occur.
Some Christian activists push a fringe belief that homosexuality was a part of the fall of the Roman Empire.
It was said thathomosexuality was praised. The depiction of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans people is emphasized everywhere, even on children’s shows. The Romans had become weak.
Many topics were touched on in the discussions which focused on seeing the modern world through a biblical viewpoint. He compared abortion to the Holocaust and said that being a mother was the best part of being a woman.
The backlash from the Black population for what is basically a genocide has not been seen. If you look to the right, you will see that there have been great killers. The Holocaust, 11 million were killed. “We compared abortion to genocide of six million Jews,” he said.

Disney Saved Splash Mountain. Tiana’s Bayou (Adventure): A Case Study of Peri, a Democratic Republican Chairman of Florida’s Republican Party
The appointment of Peri to the board comes after a fight between Disney and the state of Florida over the Parental Rights in Education Act. The law bars schools from teaching about sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third-grade classrooms and in older classrooms that do not meet yet-to-be-defined standards.
“When you lose your way, you know, you gotta have people that are going to tell you the truth, and so we hope that they can get back on,” DeSantis said. “But I think all these board members very much would like to see the type of entertainment that all families can appreciate.”
Are we going to see board members veto projects that are considered to go against the governor? During debate on the proposal, Rep. Rita Harris mentioned that she was a democrat. Walt Disney changed Splash Mountain. They made it Tiana’s Bayou (Adventure). What if the governor didn’t like that? Is it possible for the board to push a company into changing their business model so they don’t see eye to eye?
The selection of five of his cultural allies and political donors to serve as oversight roles was a sign of how the board might push back against Disney’s progressive slant.
A mother of three, Ziegler co-founded Moms for Liberty and helped lay the groundwork for the Parental Rights in Education Act, known to its critics as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. Disney’s opposition to the legislation tipped the scales of a feud between the company and the governor.
Her ties to conservative politics are wide reaching. Last month, Ziegler’s husband, Christian Ziegler, was named chairman of the state’s Republican Party. She chairs the Leadership Institute, a firm that trains conservative candidates.
Disney Board of Directors Pedagogical Garcia Special District: Indications of the Conservatives’ Disagreement with the Native American mascot
Last year, Ziegler publicly attacked Disney for asking a high school marching band to cover up its logo, which features its Native American mascot, in order to perform at Magic Kingdom.
In an interview with NPR, Ziegler implied that some of Disney’s recent cost-cutting measures were due to its stances, but stopped short of saying whether the board would use its powers to influence Disney’s financial well-being.
Asked about the function and political appearances of the board, Ziegler reiterated the conservatives’ counterpoint: “All Floridians would agree that they care about good, fiscally sound decisions and that no corporation should get special privileges over them,” she said.
As a parent of three children, as well as someone who has been a fan of Disney for decades, it is disappointing to see the direction they are taking.
“It’s really alienated their base consumers across the country. She said that the financial aspect of Disney has an impact because of Disney+ subscriber numbers. Variety reported that the streaming platform lost 2.5 million subscribers from October to December of last year, but that the drop was “entirely driven” by Disney’s loss of cricket rights in India.
The media’s focus on politics has led to the decline in the professional reputation of the board members, according to the board member.
She said her experience on the Sarasota school board and her 10 years as a risk management consultant made her uniquely qualified to serve on the board.
RonPeri has held a number of positions, including founding, the CEO and chairman of a company that was an airline technology company, and as the chief technology officer of a low-budget airline that was acquired by Southwest.

The Last Disney Board Member: Brian Aungst Jr., Judicial Director Brian DeSantis-Zigler Peri Garcia Special District
Christian nationalism is a belief that combines American exceptionalism with a belief that all U.S. laws should follow Christian values, which the Gathering seeks to destigmatize.
A recent survey suggests that a lot of Republicans embrace the idea even as hate watch groups link it to anti-democratic Extremism.
Peri, too, has weighed in on the Florida education debates. He was complimentary of Moms for Liberty for their work on the Parental Rights bill and of critical race theory.
In a recent video sermon, Peri specifically called out Disney for training employees on topics like systemic racism, white privilege and microaggressions.
During the last election season, Michael A. Sasso, a lawyer for election law and business litigation, gave roughly 9000 dollars to conservative candidates. Sasso is president of the Orlando chapter of the Federalist Society and serves on several state commissions thanks to DeSantis appointments.
250 of his donors were put into top leadership positions during the first term of the governor. Rick Scott increased the number of donor appointments by 75%.
There were candidates who donated $2,000 to local candidates, including the last Disney board member, Brian Aungst Jr.
A formerchairman of the regional chamber of commerce, and land-use attorney, is the son of the once Republican mayor of Clearwater. DeSantis appointed Aungst to a judicial nominating commission in 2021.

The First Amendment Rights of Disney World: Sensitivities, Proportional Action and the Local Government’s Role in Firefighting
The First Amendment rights of Disney World have been suppressed according to Rep. Anna Eskamani, a state representative whose district includes Disney World. “It sends a message to any private individual or company that if you don’t purport to what the Governor wants, then you’ll be punished.”
The Disney board will still need to be officially approved by the Republican-controlled state Senate, but will begin its work this week with a public meeting.
The first priority would be evaluating the current state of the property, which would include a financial review. Raising compensation for the local fire brigade was one idea that was raised by DeSantis during last Monday’s bill signing.
I did not trust the local governments, even though I wanted them to take this. “This should be handled by local government, because of the initial plan toDissolve the Special District altogether,” he said.
