Introducing Gemini and AI Features to the HP Chromebook Plus x360 Laptop: Predictions for Next Generation Chromebooks and Android Laptops

The new Chromebooks Plus 516 GE is compatible with the same features as their predecessors but has a larger display, keyboard, andWebcam.

Google announced Tuesday it’s adding Gemini and AI features from its other devices to Chromebook Plus There are many brands of laptops on the market, including a few from HP. New features like Help me write and the ability to make custom wallpaper will be supported by these and future Chromebook Plus laptops. Magic Editor is coming to the Chromebook Plus, as well, and it has already begun to appear on older Android devices.

The configurations comprise an Intel Core 7 150U or Core 5 120U processor and up to 16 gigabytes of memory with 10 hours of battery life. Notably, while this laptop will work with Google AI and Gemini features both the Core 7 150U and Core 5 120U lack NPUs, which means they won’t be as nimble with on-device AI tasks as more equipped devices.

Many of these features are exclusive to Chromebook Plus laptops, which have specific RAM and processor requirements to ensure a specific level of performance. I’m typing a story on the HP Chromebook Plus x360, powered by an Intel Core i3 chip, and it is running smoothly and there are more than 20 tabs open.

Microsoft’s Surface laptops with artificial intelligence were announced last week and several PC manufacturers are launching new Windows machines to take advantage of it. At the company’s developer conference in May, they showed off their latest Artificial intelligence capabilities. Many of these are coming to Android phones soon, and you can expect to hear the word “AI” thrown around for iOS and iPadOS at Apple’s own developer conference next month.
