The death of Adel Ibrahim Daoud at the Shuafat Refugee Camp in East Jerusalem and the ongoing tensions between Israel and the West Bank
The Israel Defense Force said on its official website that a soldier died after being shot at a military checkpoint in East Jerusalem.

Critics have long accused the military of doing a poor job of investigating wrongdoing by its troops and seldom holding forces accountable. Following their own investigation into the death, Israeli authorities decided not to launch a criminal investigation.

On Thursday, a 16-year-old boy died after he was shot by Israeli forces in Ramallah, according to a separate statement by the Palestinian Ministry of Health last week.
