Fans have raised more than $3 million for Hamlin’s toy drive.

The NFL Players Association and Football Players Association are praying for Damar Hamlin, the Cardiac Arrest Veteran of the Buffalo Bills Game

Football players, coaches and fans are waiting for news about Hamlin, who suffered a cardiac arrest during the Bills game against Cincinnati.

Bills players signaled to the sidelines immediately for help from their training staff. Hamlin was down for some 10 minutes, with medical staff appearing to give Hamlin CPR before he was taken off the field.

The NFL and the NFL Players Association agreed to postpone the game, the NFL statement said. NFL executive vice president of operations Troy Vincent said in the press call that neither of the teams’ coaches or players asked to continue playing.

I have never witnessed anything like it since I started playing, said Vincent. The player hat went on immediately. How do you resume play after you’ve seen such a traumatic event occur in front of you in real time?”

Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs arrived at the University of Cincinnati Hospital where Hamlin was being treated late Monday night, ESPN’s broadcast showed.

Bills fans charitable spirit seems to mirror Hamlin’s. CNN affiliate WKBW caught up with the NFL player just last month at his toy drive event in Buffalo, where he signed autographs for children.

He was on the team in 2016 even though he was redshirted due to an injury. He missed a lot of time due to injuries.

The league players association said in a statement that they were praying for Hamlin. “We have been in touch with Bills and Bengals players, and with the NFL. The only thing that matters at this moment is Damar’s health and well being.”

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ vigil for Dononvan Mitchell after a critical blow to the heart of a young man in cardiac arrest

“It’s definitely the right call,” he said after the Lakers game against the Charlotte Hornets Monday night, adding, “The safety of players in all sports is always the most important. It was very sad to see.

“Oh, I want to say prayers up for the Bills safety,” Cleveland Cavaliers basketball player Dononvan Mitchell said during a postgame conference. “I had heard about it, I didn’t see it We want to wish the best for him and hope everything goes well from the Cleveland organization.

The Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, the Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields, and the Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson all sent well wishes and prayers.

Football fans of both teams, meanwhile, were gathering at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center early Tuesday morning, holding a vigil for Hamlin.

Hamlin was brought to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center immediately after his heartbeat was restored and he was in a critical condition.

After his injury, fans showed their support for Hamlin by contributing millions of dollars to an online fundraiser that Hamlin started back in 2020 — before he went pro — aimed at buying toys for kids affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in his hometown. As of midday Tuesday it had raised more than $3.8 million, far surpassing its original goal of $2,500.

The 24-year-old’s collapse — which happened in the first quarter, after he collided with a Bengals player — brought a rare early halt to the game and left onlookers both on and off the field distraught.

Chasing M’s Foundation: Spending Money for Charity: Celebrating the Miracle of Lamar Jackson Against a Concussion

Away from the football field, Hamlin set up his Chasing M’s Foundation while in college, which started as a program to buy and donate toys to a day center in his hometown of McKees Rock, Pennsylvania.

The fundraiser reached over $3 million in donations on Tuesday and was 135,000% better than its goal. Thousands of fans across NFL teams shared words of support on the page, which GoFundMe verified on Twitter.

The Bills Mafia are known for their charitable heart. After their victory over the Ravens in the year 2021, they gave money to the favorite charity of quarterback Lamar Jackson who suffered a concussion in the third quarter.

Several pro football teams sent thoughts and prayers to Hamlin after the tackle, including the Bengals, the Arizona Cardinals, the Seattle Seahawks and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams is praying for the Hamlins and his teammates in Buffalo.

“Tonight, we got to see a side of football that is extremely ugly, Clark told ESPN. The side of football that no one wants to see or admit exists.

Clark had a complication with a sickle cell trait and had to be rushed to hospital. He missed the remainder of the season after having his scupl and bladder removed, which made him make a full recovery. He went on to become an analyst for ESPN on the NFL and MMA.

My teammates came to my hospital bed and cried for days, after I dealt with this before. Clark said on his broadcast that they didn’t think he was going to make it.

Clark urged everyone in football to have more compassion for the players who put themselves in danger for others.

“And so the next time that we get upset at our favorite fantasy player, or we’re upset that the guy on our team doesn’t make the play, and we’re saying he’s worthless and we’re saying ‘you get to make all this money,’ we should remember that these guys are putting their lives on the line to live this dream.”

Ryan Clark and Scott Van Pelt are handling this very well. Not an easy assignment, but they are shining. Perspective, class, honesty, emotion, all of it, is what sports writer and former sports writer Matt Lindner wrote about the two hosts handling the coverage.

Damar Hamlin, NFL All-State Player, Contributed to the Pittsburgh Defensive Football Players, and How to Make a Toy Drive

He won the PIAA state title in his senior year, after leading his team to a 15-1 record. Several Division 1 football schools were interested in Hamlin, who was the top-rated defensive player in Pennsylvania.

“I mean, if there’s anyone I have confidence in making it out of anything, it’s him. Rooney said that he was someone who always figured out a way to win.

“He’s in the NFL because he wants to be a role model,” Rooney said. Damar wants to be an example for the other young people in his community.

“Which is something that’s pretty unique and the reason why is cause he’s always interested in being an entrepreneur and wanted to build his own brand.

“He interned for me and then we just became super, super close so now, you know, we’re partners in a business together. We are good friends and collaborate on a lot of things.

He said in December that he loves giving back and that he has been doing the toy drive for three years.

In a 2021 interview with the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Hamlin credited his parents, Mario and Nina Hamlin, for keeping him on a straight path as a kid in McKees Rocks, which the paper said had drug and gang problems that produced one of the highest crime rates in the US.

Hamlin told the paper that his parents were always there to get him back on track and that at times he could have steered right or left.

Hamlin was able to attend a private high school after assisting his mother in a family cleaning business.

Players, teams and athletes from football and other sports have flooded social media with tributes and prayers. He had a five year career in the University of Pittsburgh after graduating from the school, before joining the NFL.

I was just in Pittsburgh. Everything was Pittsburgh for me,” he said. “I wanted to give my city bragging rights, bring my city something and just give the city another reason to smile.”

The Buffalo News’ special correspondent reveals that Hamlin “is a role model for his dad,” whose grandfather played in the Buffalo Bills’ playoffs

He has played every game so far this season and has 93 tackles, six tackles for loss and two pass breakups.

In an interview with The Buffalo News just before the Bills played the Pittsburgh Steelers in October, Hamlin said he was expecting good turnout from family and friends — with the exception of his dad, who coaches his little brother’s team and stayed behind for playoffs.

Hamlin doesn’t know what to say but he cherishes every second that he can. ” Every second of every day.” Every wednesday, we do our DB prayer where we had our prayer. He was next to me and I just grabbed his hand a little bit harder just because you know you never know when your last day could be that you get to experience something like this. I’m making sure I enjoy every moment that I have.

“My mom, my dad, my little brother, like that’s pretty much my whole world, outside of any other thing going on; my life revolves around them,” he said. I don’t do much without my parents’ opinions. Whether I take it or not. sometimes I just want to hear it.”

Years earlier, Hamlin told the Globe that he wanted to stay in Pittsburgh for college in part to be a role model for his brother, who was 2 years old at the time, and cited his parents as his personal role models.

Pittsburgh sports journalist Amanda Godsey tweeted Monday night that her mind went straight to Hamlin’s family after seeing him collapse, recalling that he seemed close to his parents and had his brother on his lap during a media session several years ago.
