The toy drive for Damar Hamlin got millions of donations after he collapsed on the field.

The UC Medical Center and Bills are back to work: An overnight update on the Dallas Cowboys’ game at the Buffalo Collaborative

In an overnight update, the Bills said Hamlin’s “heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently in critical condition.

In just seconds, medical personnel were rushing onto the field to administer CPR and resuscitate Hamlin in front of his teammates, many of whom fell to their knees, sent up a prayer or were openly weeping and embracing one another.

The game was suspended with nearly six minutes left in the first quarter and was later officially postponed. The NFL said Tuesday that the game will not be resumed this week and no decision has been made on whether to continue it at a later date.

“I’ve never seen anything like it since I’ve been playing,” Vincent said. “So immediately, my player hat went on. How do you return to play after seeing such a traumatic event in real time?

The University of Cincinnati hospital was where Hamlin was being treated when Stefon Diggs arrived.

The charitable spirit of Bills fans resembles that of Hamlin. CNN affiliate WKBW caught up with the NFL player just last month at his toy drive event in Buffalo, where he signed autographs for children.

In his college career he was hampered by injuries and was not permitted to play in games until he was fully healed.

• Bills are back to work: The team met Wednesday and held their first full practice of the week Thursday in preparation for hosting the New England Patriots on Sunday. The team has been receiving “incremental updates” from medical staff as well as from Bills general manager Brandon Beane and head athletic trainer Nate Breske who stayed behind in Cincinnati, head coach Sean McDermott said. Josh Allen told reporters on Thursday that the good news about Damar is pushing them forward.

A Prayer for the Safety of the Cleveland Cavaliers and for the Health of Their Former Colleagues, Jordan Mitchell, Dononvan Mitchell, William Knight, and Russell Wilson

He said that the safety of players in all sports was the most important, and that the call was definitely the right one. It was a terrible thing to see.”

Dononvan Mitchell said he wanted to say prayers for the safety of the Bills. I didn’t see it but I heard about it. but, you know…we’re praying for him, all of us in the locker room…From the Cavaliers organization, we want to wish the best, and praying everything goes well.”

Several star athletes sent well wishes and prayers, including Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields, and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Football fans of both teams, meanwhile, were gathering at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center early Tuesday morning, holding a vigil for Hamlin.

Pritts said that this marks a really good turning point in his ongoing care, but there are many steps still ahead of him. William Knight said that Hamlin’s next big milestone will be breathing on his own. Knight said they are still working to determine the cause of his cardiac arrest.

Hamlin claims that the toy drive will impact children who have been hit hardest by the P.H., with 100% of the funds going towards toys in need.

NFL Players and Football Players, Collapse and Hospitalization: Why Hamlin and his family were touched by the loss of Josh Allen and his father

The collapse that took place in the first quarter after he crashed into a player brought a rare early halt to the game and left both spectators and players devastated.

News of Hamlin awakening was met with a rush of messages of support and relief from players across the NFL. More than $7 million has been donated to the player’s charity since he collapsed, and his jersey became the most purchased athletes’ jersey at the store.

The fundraiser surpassed 3 million dollars in donations on Tuesday, 135,000% more than its goal. Thousands of fans showed their support for their team on the page.

When Bills quarterback Josh Allen lost his grandmother, the team donated more than 1 million dollars to build a new wing at the hospital. They raised money for Lamar Jackson’s charity after he was removed from a playoff game for a concussion.

Hamlin’s family thanked first responders, medical professionals, both football teams and fans for their prayers and donations in a statement released Tuesday.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams is asking everyone in the city to pray for Hamlin and his family.

Rooney teaches physics at Penn State, and when he gets a job working with Damar, Roberts, Is it cool to be an entrepreneur?

His team went 15-1 and he was part of it, leading to a WPIAL ClassAAAA championship and PIAA state title in his senior year. Recruitment sites Rivals and 247Sports named Hamlin the top-rated defensive player in Pennsylvania and several Division 1 football schools pursued him.

If there is anyone that I trust to make it out of anything, it is him. Rooney told Broaddus he was someone who would always figure out a way to win.

I was offered an internship by Damar, because he was a division one football player. Rooney was interviewed by Robin Roberts on Good Morning America.

“Which is something that’s pretty unique and the reason why is cause he’s always interested in being an entrepreneur and wanted to build his own brand.

“He interned for me and then we just became super, super close so now, you know, we’re partners in a business together. We collaborate on a lot of things and we’re really good friends.”

“(It’s) something I’ve always been into, just giving back,” he told CNN affiliate WKBW in December, adding: “For three years I’ve been doing the toy drive so just being able to extend it to Buffalo now is just something I love doing.”

In an interview with the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Hamlin credited his parents, Mario and Nina Hamlin, for keeping him on a straight path when he was younger in McKees Rocks, which the paper said had one of the highest crime rates in the US.

Hamlin said in an interview with the paper that his parents would always make sure he was back on track, even if he could have steered left or right.

Hamlin assisted his mother, who was at the game on Monday, in a family cleaning business that enabled him to go to the private Pittsburgh Central Catholic high school.

Darling to Pittsburgh: Where he came from: What he wanted to do, when he could. When he saw his father, Hamlin, he would smile

He said that as he begins his journey to the NFL, he will never forget where he comes from and will use his platform to positively impact the community that raised him.

“I was just so Pittsburgh. Everything was Pittsburgh for me,” he said. “I wanted to give my city bragging rights, bring my city something and just give the city another reason to smile.”

He has played in 15 games this season and has 92 tackles, six for loss, two pass breakups, and 1.5 sacks.

Hamlin was asked by a Bills reporter in November if there was any emotion between him and Jackson during the course of the season so far.

He said that the call with Hamlin was beautiful and amazing. “It has given us so much energy, so much bright, high spirits – whatever you want to call it – it has given it to us to see that boy’s face.”

“My mom, my dad, my little brother, like that’s pretty much my whole world, outside of any other thing going on; my life revolves around them,” he said. My mother and father’s opinion is what I do most of the time. Whether I take it or whether I don’t … Sometimes I would like to hear it.

Hamlin told the Globe that he wanted to stay in Pittsburgh for college to be a role model for his younger brother who was 2 years old at the time.

Pittsburgh sports journalist Amanda Godsey tweeted Monday night that her mind went straight to Hamlin’s family after seeing him collapse, recalling that he seemed close to his parents and had his brother on his lap during a media session several years ago.

Hamlin’s family and Allen have also dismissed online criticisms of Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins, who had collided with Hamlin just moments before his collapse. The family’s spokesperson has said Higgins has reached out and “has been supportive.”

The ESPN broadcast repeatedly cut to commercials — a standard practice during injury timeouts. When the program resumed, it was clear that the players were in tears as emergency medical staff tended to the stricken athlete. Joe Buck appeared stunned into silence along with everyone else.

“There’s nothing to say right now”, Buck said at one point, as he watched Sean McDermott and Josh Allen and others look worried and teary eyed.

The Cincinnati Bengals Lost Their Footprint and They Came Back to the Ballpark, Where the Football Game Turns. A 911 Newsman Calls “The Redskins”

9 p.m. An ambulance was seen backing rapidly across the field toward Hamlin at Cincinnati’s Paycor Stadium, in a video posted by local sports reporter Joe Danneman of local TV station FOX 19.

The entire Bills team is on the field. Some players are on their knees, others are holding hands. The worried looks on their faces is what you can see.

Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow and other Bengals also gathered near midfield. applause broke out when Hamlin was seen on a stretcher after minutes of quiet in the stadium.

After Hamlin was injured last night, a 53-year-old man in San Antonio, Texas received a text from his mother. YOU NEED TO TURN ON THE FOOTBALL GAME. A player is dead.

The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr., who is based in Cincinnati, had no clue how people were expected to play the game. That scene was frightening.

Ben Baby reported that players were coming back to the field and the game was going to continue. Burrow was seen throwing warmup passes, with his helmet back on.

“They’ve been given 5 minutes to regroup, get ready to play again, and that’s it,” Buck said. “That’s the word that we get from the league and from the field but nobody’s moving.”

“Zac Taylor and Sean McDermott brought both of their teams back to the locker rooms,” the station said. They were seen passing a phone to each other between meeting the game officials in the tunnel. Shortly after that phone call, the league announced play was to be suspended indefinitely.”

The time is 9:29pm. “Zac Taylor just walked to the Bills locker room area and is waiting outside,” Danneman reported, adding that Taylor and McDermott then jointly met with referees.

The Bills-Bengals Game Was Never Suspended: The Case of Hamlin’s Decapitated Neighbor

A five-minute warm-up period is standard protocol in most delays, as was noted by a local TV station that was carrying the game.

The station reported that before the game was suspended, Burrow and other Bengal players left their locker room to join the Bills in the visitors’ facility.

Tuesday at 1:34 p.m The NFL issued a statement saying the Bills-Bengals game will not be resumed this week — the 18th and final week of its season — adding that the league “has made no decision regarding the possible resumption of the game at a later date.”

“There was no time period for the players to get warmed up,” Vincent said, according to Garafolo. Warming up to resume play was not something that crossed our minds. That’s ridiculous. That’s not right. We should never be in that place.

After Hamlin’s heart stopped beating following what seemed like a routine tackle, first responders resuscitated him by performing CPR and using a defibrillator.

“I’m not a crier, but I’ve never cried so hard in my life,” Glenn said of watching those uncertain moments unfold on a screen. My nephew died in the field and was brought back to life. It’s just sad. To see all the grown men cry. It was a gut punch.

Hamlin’s Collapse in Buffalo, New York: Why Do We Need a Breathing Machine for the Probing Heart?

Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins said he realized the gravity of his teammate’s condition when Hamlin continued to stay on the ground as more and more medical staff were called over.

You are just wondering, what can I do? What can we do?’ Dawkins told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that it breaks you down into prayer. “Whether you’re a believer or not, only a higher power can really take control of what is next. And our people that help also assisted that higher power.”

Hamlin’s collapse is the latest in a string of recent tragedies to have struck the community of Buffalo, including a racist mass shooting and a historic blizzard which left at least 41 people dead in Erie County, New York.

It is not known what caused Hamlin’s cardiac arrest, which can happen when the heart suddenly stops beating. If help isn’t rendered immediately, death can occur quickly. It is not the same as a heart attack or heart failure.

CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta explained that when the heart is not beating well, fluid can sometimes back up into the lungs and make it hard for medical staff to oxygenate the patient. So, they will flip the person on their stomach into a prone position to make breathing easier.

He said that you can decrease the demand by sedating someone, and then improve the amount of circulation by using a breathing machine. “Sometimes they’ll even use cooling agents, hypothermia it’s called, to basically almost put the body in more of a hibernation-like state so it’s not demanding as much oxygenated blood. That’s part of the reason he would be on a breathing machine as well.”

Damar Donté, the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback, and Hamlin’s mother: How his family and teammates grieved after he was injured

The best way to keep moving is to keep getting the updates on Damar, it really lifts our spirits. Leaning on each other, talking to each other,” he said. “We’ve had some very open and honest and deep talks. Some unbelievable, this sounds weird, but some embraces as men, just hugging somebody and actually just leaning into them.

Donté said that the postponement of the game would not have been done years ago. He said that the game would have resumed 10 years ago.

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence said he and his teammates were blessed to be able to play professional football, but that Hamlin’s injury was a reminder that “this game is a dangerous sport.”

The continued shock of Hamlin’s hospitalization – on top of the city’s mass shooting in May, deadly December blizzard, having a home game in November moved to Detroit and getting stuck in Chicago during the holidays – has been heavy on everyone associated with the club, the source said.

The scouting report showed the player had great instincts and a nose for the ball, but he was undersized and a bit slow, so he probably wouldn’t be a first round pick.

I’m willing to do any thing to be a contributor on the team. I don’t care if it’s I gotta pass out water at halftime,” he said to reporters after the draft. “No matter what it is, I will do it.” I don’t have any pride.

“Something ain’t going to happen, but I know what it will happen” — Hamlin tells the Bills of the 2022 season

Before Monday, the 2022 season had been a bittersweet ride for Hamlin, filled both with the opportunity of a lifetime and uncomfortable reminders of the perils of football.

“Me and my family, we all seen it as the perfect opportunity to be able to come in and learn,” he said in a Bills media interview in November. “Some rookies, they have the pressure of having to get out there right away. And they might burn their wick short because they might not be ready for their moment.”

In September of last year, a tackle by Jackson resulted in a grievous hit to the head and neck.

After that, Hamlin had seemed to take every opportunity to count his blessings, even as he racked up tackles, playing time and attention from fans and the media.

“Even just walking in the building first thing in the morning, you’re feeling sleepy, you ain’t charged up for the day,” he and Jackson would build each other up, he said, reminding the other “that we are where we wanted to be in the exact moment we wanted to have it.”

He said, “you never know when the last day may be that you’re getting to experience something like this.”

A Black-and-White Image of a Detroit Lions Player: Chuck Hughes, the Last Folk Hero: The Life and Myth of Bo Jackson

Editor’s Note: Jeff Pearlman is the author of 10 books including his latest, “The Last Folk Hero: The Life and Myth of Bo Jackson.” The opinions expressed here are of his own. Read more opinion on CNN.

It exists, in the archives of the Detroit Free Press, a harrowing black-and-white image that found itself atop page 1D of the Oct. 25, 1971 morning newspaper.

Within a few hours, Hughes, just 28 years old, was pronounced dead of what turned out to be a coronary thrombosis – a blood clot that caused a heart attack. He was the only player who died in a game.

Wrote George Puscas, the Free Press’ executive sports editor: “From the moment Dick Butkus, the huge Chicago Bears linebacker, began waving frantically at the Lions’ bench, it was obvious that Chuck Hughes was in serious trouble.”

The NFL is BOOM! AND POW! And POP! When Brandon Hughes and his father Hamlin walked on the field of Tiger Stadium

The land of sports drinks is the National Football League. And potato chips. It’s the land of $169 embroidered jerseys and $59 hats (both available now at NFL.com! Free shipping if you order ASAP!). The land is home to gambling apps and fantasy leagues, as well as cheerleaders and adults dressed as barnyard animals. The NFL exists to entice your senses and pull your dollars and bring your suppressed aggressions to life every Sunday afternoon. It is BOOM! And POW! and POP!

When, in 1971, Hughes was removed from the field, league officials knew he was dead (“We reached him and there was no pulse,” said Dr. Richard A. Thompson, an osteopath on the scene), then took all of 10 minutes to decide the action must continue.

Some fans who agree with it are trying to show respect but it started to sound like an unofficial anthem to drink from: Drink yourPepsi. Eat your Tostitos. Wear your foam finger. Don’t worry about the carnage.

Brandon Hughes was only one when his father died on the field of Tiger Stadium, but after seeing what happened to Hamlin, he was just as emotional as when his dad died. “Everything they were saying was so familiar to me,” Brandon, an employee at a mutual fund company, told me. They talked about how unprecedented this is. I was not sure if I would be able to think about that. it’s not. Not at all.’”

Brandon Hughes called his mother Sharon – now 77 but widowed at 24. She sounded sad by the uncertainty of Hamlins future and by the echoes of past tragedy.

The Football Game that Was Presented to Glenn. He Worst After the Collapse of His Neighbor Rodney Hamlin

Glenn traveled hundreds of miles to be with a second-year football player and his family on Tuesday morning. He was at his house in Pittsburgh when his nephew collapsed on the field.

After watching the frightening event unfold, Colts rookie safety Rodney Thomas II drove from Indianapolis to Cincinnati to see his friend Hamlin. Meanwhile, NFL fans held vigils outside the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where Hamlin was sedated and intubated in the ICU.

Thomas said that he held Hamlins hand and that he knew he could hear him. “Even if he couldn’t hear me, it didn’t matter. I told them what they had to say.

The game averaged more than 20 million viewers on ABC during the course of play, making it the most watched football game of the season. The most watched Monday night Football game in its history was made even more famous by Hamlin’s collapse.

It’s important to have the right blow hitting at the right spot on the chest with the right amount of force at the right time. So a lot of things have to line up for that to happen,” he said, emphasizing that while it is possible, investigators will consider all options.

The Buffalo Blue Jays Player’s Game Report: Hamlin, Thompson and the Buffalo Medic Examiner at the Collapsar

The medical teams and officials of the National Football League gather for a 60-minute meeting before every game to discuss how to respond to disasters like Hamlin’s collapse. The teams identify the location of the equipment and nearby medical centers during a meeting, as well as establish a chain of command in case of an emergency.

A high-ranking official within the Bills organization told CNN that they cried after a long day of meetings because there was too much to comprehend.

The series of difficult blows to Buffalo have emotionally piled up within the organization, the source said, adding that through it all, the team has tried to be a source of strength for the city, the source tells Wire.

Tage Thompson performed well on Tuesday night, and the source said it was a glimpse of hope for the team.

There was a recurring theme throughout the game, which was played on January 3. Thompson scored a hat trick in the overtime to give the Sabres a win. Thompson got his third hat trick of the season and his third goal in the 3rd minute of overtime.

“We had significant concern about him after the injury and after the event that happened on the field, but he has made substantial improvement,” UCMC physician Timothy Pritts said.

Hamlin is able to communicate through shaking his head, nodding and writing notes, according to the player’s medical team. Upon awakening, Pritts said, Hamlin’s mind was still on the game as he scribbled his first question on a clipboard: “Did we win?”

He was surprised that he hadn’t been with the world for a couple days and talked about the team’s support for him and his family, according to Knight IV.

The Los Alamos Collapsar: Why did Mario Hamlin go that way? A Zoom Talk with the Buffalo Bills NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell

Hamlin’s father, Mario Hamlin, addressed the Buffalo Bills team on a Zoom call Wednesday to let everyone that Hamlin was making progress, ESPN reported.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell informed all clubs of his decision Thursday after contacting the Bills, Bengals and NFL Players Association leadership, according to a release from the league.

Bills quarterback Allen said that while “people are going to be changed forever” from what took place on Monday, he thinks “putting that helmet back on was a really good thing for our team and just to go through that process.”

“I hope that he got some relief today,” Allen said of Higgins while speaking to reporters Thursday. I hope that he doesn’t hold that football play on himself because there isn’t anything else that he could have done.

Doctors and Bills team members have praised the actions of medical personnel who rushed to Hamlin after he collapsed.

Denny Kellington, the assistant athletic trainer credited with saving Hamlin’s life, was a member of the Bills medical and athletic training staff.

Practice does pay off and it did in this instance, according to a post-practice news conference devoted to Hamlin. “But again, the context of it, for an assistant to find himself at that position and needing to take the action that he did and step up and take charge like he did – and there were others on the field as well – is nothing short of amazing and (the) courage that took, you talk about a real leader, a real hero, in saving Damar’s life.”

Lastly, the league said making the decision before Week 18 still allows all clubs to know the playoff possibilities before their final game of the regular season.

When Damar Hamlin stepped up to take charge: He said he had the courage to do what he did, and how he didn’t

“For an assistant to find himself at that position and needing to take the action that he did and step up and take charge like he did – and there were others on the field as well – is nothing short of amazing,” McDermott said of Kellington during a news conference Thursday.

In a cardiac arrest, there is no blood flow in the heart, meaning there is no oxygen flowing into the brain or other organs. The chance of organ damage is more likely when a person goes without oxygen for a long time. A defibrillated heart can start beating again if a pumping heart is mimicked by cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the device shocks the heart.

Kellington is a member of the Bills training staff. Prior to joining the team, he was an athletic trainer at Syracuse University for 11 years, six of which were spent as the head athletic trainer for the football team, according to the university and Kellington’s LinkedIn. He also previously served as a graduate student athletic trainer at Ohio State University, the school confirmed to CNN.

Someone said we’re going to need everyone. All call, all call.” Several other calls go out for personnel to rush to the field.

“It’s certainly not an exaggeration to say that the skilled and the immediate response by all of these talented caregivers prevented a very tragic outcome at that moment,” NFL chief medical officer Dr. Allen Sills said Wednesday.

The medical teams at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, the Bills, and the first responders on the field this week were all thanked by the coach at the Thursday news conference.

After Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital, Cincinnati Bengals fans embraced their Buffalo Bills counterparts in the Paycor Stadium, men and women broke into tears, while others prayed.

A man’s perspective on mental health: How do we deal with it, and how does it affect their lives? An expert on men’s depression

The evolution of the sport shows that men are allowed to experience emotional vulnerability, according to a professor of psychology at Clark University in Massachusetts.

“I think it’s a sign that we’re better prepared than we were a quarter of a century ago to acknowledge emotional and physical health problems in men because, of course, all that sort of traditional laws of masculinity teach us to hide that,” said Addis, who is an expert in men’s depression.

“We’ve had some very open and honest and deep talks,” said Allen. “Some unbelievable, this sounds weird, but some embraces as men, just hugging somebody and actually just leaning into them. There’s been a lot of that going around and you need every bit of it, you really do.

“I think the fact that we just keep hearing good news about Damar, it just keeps pushing us forward.” added Allen, referring to Hamlin’s “substantial improvement” in the hospital.

Getting back to business is what it is for some people. And it’s a healthy distraction from what they’re experiencing,” said Addis. “For other people, there’s no way that they’re going to get back to business so early.”

Preexisting Prevalence of Heart Conditions in NFL Players: A Case Study in the Seattle Seahawks Player’s Experience and Their Response to an Injuries

I think playing will be hard, but there are people that want to play, and people that don’t. Personally, I probably want to play,” added Burrow.

Getting back to as normal as possible is how I deal with these kinds of things, that’s what I think. But like I said, everyone has a different way of dealing with it.”

“These players are used to seeing broken bone. They’re used to concussion protocols,” Addis said. This was a play that came close to causing a player’s death.

“So I think for all of the players involved, as well as potentially for fans, this is a time where the risk of trigger of trauma responses is very real.

After a few years, the sporting world has become more conscious of athletes mental health, but with the end of the football season nears, are players allowed enough time to process their emotions?

“I’m really curious to see how this all plays out, because I don’t think the institution of the sport is ready to be as flexible about this as the players might need.”

The Director of the University of Washingtons medicine center for sports cardiology and the Seattle Seahawks Dr. Jonathan A. Drezner believes the readiness to act quickly in the face of an emergency is the result of hours of planning and preparation.

It is sort of planning for what ifs. And so I think within the NFL, we actually have quite a robust emphasis on being prepared,” added the Seahawks team physician.

Before the NFL season starts, players are subjected to annual electrocardiograms in an attempt to identify preexisting heart conditions, according to Drezner.

“Most sudden cardiac arrest in young competitive athletes is from a preexisting heart condition. And again, these are the types of heart condition that you look for through screening, but no screening is perfect.”

The Game of Gametime with the Bills Quarterback, Dion Dawkins, on Thursday, July 14. In honor of Hamlin, the Collapse of the NFL, a Game of the Living Legend

To listen to him tell us was everything we needed. Literally that’s all we needed,” Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins said of the team’s Friday video call with Hamlin, who is still undergoing treatment at a Cincinnati hospital.

Hamlin, who was put on a ventilator after he collapsed, had his breathing tube removed before Friday morning and began to awaken late this week.

During timeout, it is called “GAMETIME.” Hamlin wrote in the post. The image showed him with his hands together in a heart sign, and he wore a number 3 hat and a “Love for Damar” shirt.

The league prepares for the final games of the season on Saturday and Sunday and supporters will continue to show their support. Hamlin will be honored by the NFL before every game.

All 32 teams had players and coaches wear t-shirts that said “Love for Damar3” during pre-game warm ups.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane – who stayed in Cincinnati following the game’s postponement to be with Hamlin and his family – praised the unified message of support across the league this week, noting how characteristically competitive the sport is.

We go to battle. But in the end, life is the number one battle,” Beane said Friday. “And to see that unity from players, coaches, (general managers), owners, fans, is unheard of. I think it is a good light. It sheds a great light on the NFL. The NFL is truly a family.”

On the Last Day of Running Out That Tunnel: Miles Huckabee, Josh Allen, and the Philadelphia Eagles Running Back Randy Hamlin

Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Huckabee told Hamlin he was the most famous person in the world during a video chat.

He posted a video of himself from earlier in the season and wrote that there was nothing he wanted more than to be running out that tunnel with his brothers. God is utilizing him in a different way today. Today is a good day to tell someone you love them. He added the hashtag #Prayfor3, his jersey number.

If you get a chance to show some love today do it!, said Hamlin asJosh Allen arrived to the stadium wearing a sweatshirt with a large number 3. It won’t cost you nothing.” Hamlin added, “That’s My Quarterback.”

In Orchard Park, the public address announcer read a statement of support for Hamlin and received a roar from the crowd. Fans holding signs of support for Hamlin were all around the stadium.

The Bills gave Hamlin something to smile about immediately once the game began. Bills returner Nyhiem Hines took the opening kickoff for a 96-yard touchdown, a storybook start sending the crowd into euphoria and spurring Hamlin to tweet, “OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Hamlin and McDermott had exchanged text messages over the weekend. In McDermott’s pregame interview on CBS, he said Hamlin’s improved health has really been a “huge lift for the guys to get their minds off of that, off of Damar a little bit, enough to focus on their preparation for this game.”

Hamlin’s teammates, many of whom were in tears as they watched the medical team resuscitate the 24-year-old, met Wednesday for a walk-through and held their first full practice of the week Thursday.

In a news conference ahead of Sunday’s game, Bills quarterback Josh Allen told reporters focusing on football has been hard with their teammate still in the hospital.

Darius McDermott: A Big Step Forward for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans to Take a Knee Before a Game

The health and well-being of his players was the number one priority for the coach, who was praised by his players for his handling of Hamlin’s situation.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, McDermott said a teleconference with the father of Damar’s son had made the players feel more prepared for the game.

The team needs to focus on the goals they have set for themselves, even thoughamar’s father told the team that he must speak to the team.

Dawkins told CNN that seeing his father expression on his face was all they needed to take a giant step forward.

“We’re all here, you know, we have a job to do but really we’re just concerned about him, his family and I’m just trying to get updates and make sure that he’s OK and be there for the Bills and their organization as well,” he told reporters.

To try and stay focused on the game is hard, with a lot of emotions running around. It is a difficult thing to do and if you can just focus on one day at a time and send your prayers, you will be fine.

The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans took a knee as a group before their game Saturday. Several teams in the league wore Hamlin’s number 3 jersey prior to their match-ups as a show of support. Even ESPN journalists turned their microphone flags upside down during broadcasts to make their ‘E’ logo look like a ‘3.’

Hamlin took to social media Saturday in his first public statement since his collapse to thank supporters for their words and gestures of encouragement.

“Putting love into the world comes back 3xs as much… thankful for everyone who has reached out and prayed,” he said. This will help me on my road to recovery.

Mahomes’s injury loss: What happened in Kansas City? A commentator on “What happened in football’s past, and what happened in present day”

“You put all this work in for months to try to go out there and play your best football,” Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said ahead of his team’s game on Saturday. It will be a little weird when you go on that field because it was so frightening. That was frightening.

Howard Bryant, a sports commentator with Meadowlark Media, told NPR’s Weekend Edition Saturday that injuries such as Hamlin’s will always be a part of football as it’s currently played.

“What’s the line about football? It’s the one sport with a 100% guaranteed injury rate. The goal in football is to hurt people,” Bryant said. “So when you see something like this, there’s no way out.”
