On Sale for Refurbished Sonos Devices and Accessories: The 2019 Sale includes a Sonos Five, a Hybrid Speaker, and a Turntable Set

If you like buying refurbished ones, you can score even more discounts on Sonos devices. We also occasionally see sales on Sonos’ collaborative series with Ikea and discounted bundles that include Sonos products, which makes it easier to set up an entire home audio system while saving money. And, if you’re a student, Sonos offers a program you can join to get a 15 percent discount when you spend up to $2,500 on full-priced speakers and accessories.

Before resale, both Best Buy and Sonos have to test and clean their certified refurbished products. Sonos also includes the original accessories and cables, along with a one-year warranty and a 45-day money-back guarantee. All Geek squad certified refurbished products come with a 90-day warranty. You have 15 days to return or exchange them, but Best Buy and Totaltech members are eligible for an extended return window.

It is a good buy if you want an excellent-sounding Sonos speaker that you can take with you to any room in your home. It also comes with features like IP56 weatherproofing and support for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple’s AirPlay 2, not to mention seamless integration with other Sonos devices.

The Sonos One emits rich, detailed sound, but lacks a microphone. The compact smart speaker also features good voice microphones, integrates with existing Sonos systems, and supports a wide range of music services.

The Sonos Five is not on sale. However, you can buy a set of two in new condition for around $1,048 instead of $1,098 from Sonos, B&H Photo, and Best Buy. Sonos is additionally selling a Turntable set, which includes the Sonos Five and a Pro-Ject T1 Phono SB Turntable, for $948 ($50 off).

Finally, you can also save a little if you buy the Sonos Arc SL, which lacks a microphone but is $50 cheaper when you purchase it from Costco. You will have to be a member to buy it.

The Play:5 music speaker, which was the first of its kind, was replaced in 2020 by the Sonos Five. It shares the same six custom-designed drivers inside, so it should offer the same high-quality listening experience as the Play:5, which was ideal for large rooms or parties. Other than that, however, there aren’t many noticeable differences. Compared to the Play:5, Sonos says its successor offers increased memory and processing power, as well as a new wireless radio. There are also all-black or all-white options. The lack of a microphone and support for Amazon’s voice services is something most other speakers in the Sonos lineup offer.

However, it’s important to note that as an older model, it lacks features the second-generation Beam offers. For example, it doesn’t offer the second-gen model’s support for Dolby Atmos and an eARC HDMI port. It was new and available for a price of $399, but is now only available for $239 from Sonos, which makes it a better choice than buying it new.

The speaker sounds similar to the Sonos One, but with slightly more volume. Unlike the One, however, you don’t need to find the right spot in your home for it to hear it well, given it’s better at distributing sound throughout a room. No matter where you are in the world, it sounds great.

Combined with the introduction of a variety of new products by the company, it seems that it’s embracing choice and flexibility. In 2023, the preservation of physical input, even if it’s not as simple as a 3.5mm aux jack, is refreshing. Apple’s HomePod and Google’s Nest Audio lack any kind of I/O and rely on wireless streaming at all times, though Amazon’s Echo and Echo Studio have a traditional auxiliary input.

Much of what I reported back in August (including Bluetooth audio playback and USB-C line-in) can again be confirmed for the Era 300. The Era 100 will have both of these conveniences, making it far more versatile than the Sonos One. It was not possible to run external sources like a turntable directly through Era 100. There is a second cable running into a speaker in the below picture.

Is it possible that you know about the forthcoming hardware from Sonos and other companies? Prior to their official announcement, I have revealed a number of Sonos devices. These include the Roam, Ray, Sonos Voice Control, Sub Mini, and now the Era line.

Trusted sources make this reporting possible, and if you have more to share on what’s ahead from Sonos, Bose, Sony, or another tech brand, you can message me confidentially and securely with Signal at 845-445-8455. Progress in sustainable design of the Sonos Era 300 and Era 100 speakers for next generation Smartphones: the smart speaker paradigm, focusing on sound maximization and room analysis

It is the first time that Trueplay tuning will be supported on Android phones with the Era 300 and Era 100. It will be the speakers that are doing the room analysis and sound maximization using their built in microphones. The regular walk-around-the-room-with-your-phone is still only available on the iPhone and iPad, so it is referred to as “quick tuning.”

More progress is being made in sustainable design with the latest speaker from Sonos. Among the changes, both Era devices use more screws and less adhesive, allowing for easier disassembly and repair should components need to be replaced. The company has also substantially reduced their power consumption: the Era 300 and Era 100 each use under two watts when idle and will include a new, more efficient sleep mode.
