The Gaza War in Gaza: Israel’s First Military Campaign Since the Decay of Hezbollah on Oct. 7, 2023
One official said that if both sides show willingness to compromise on the war in Gaza, then there’s a chance that Qatar will return to the efforts.
The decision was made by the US and both Israel and Hamas were told about it, according to a diplomatic source. The Hamas political office no longer serves it’s purpose as a consequence.
And Palestinian medical officials said an Israeli strike hit tents in the courtyard of central Gaza’s main hospital, including one serving as a police point. At least three people were killed and a local journalist was wounded, Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in Deir al-Balah said. Since March, eight Israeli attacks were on the compound.
There was no end in sight to the Israeli campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon, where Israel’s military claimed to have struck militant infrastructure overnight in the south of the country.
11 aid trucks carrying food, water and medical equipment reached the far north of the Gaza Strip on Thursday, according to the Israeli military body in charge of humanitarian aid. Israel began a new military campaign in the far north last month.
Some aid did not reach the agreed points, according to the U. UN World Food Program. The WFP says that Israeli troops stopped a convoy in the urban refugee camp and ordered it to be off loaded.
Israel’s offensive has focused on Jabaliya, where Israel says Hamas had regrouped. The affected areas are north of Gaza City.
The aid announcement came days before a U.S. deadline demanding that Israel improve aid deliveries across Gaza or risk losing access to U.S. weapons funding.
The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification issued a report Thursday saying there’s a high likelihood that famine is imminent in parts of northern Gaza.

The conflict has left 90% of Palestinians in Gaza displaced, according to U.N. figures. tens of thousands of Palestinians have been driven from their homes because of Israeli offensives and eviction orders and several schools have been struck by Israel’s army.
The war began after Palestinian militants stormed into Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing around 1,200 people — mostly civilians — and abducting 250 others.
“Hamas is a terrorist group that has killed Americans and continues to hold Americans hostage. After rejecting repeated proposals to release hostages, its leaders should no longer be welcome in the capitals of any American partner,” the official said.
A U.S. senior administration official who spoke on condition of anonymity about sensitive diplomatic negotiations said Qatar had played an invaluable role in mediating with Hamas to secure the release of hostages last year.
In November of last year, Qatar helped broker a temporary cease-fire and the release of more than 100 hostages taken from Israel in the Hamas-led attack of Oct. 7. The short-lived deal also freed hundreds of Palestinian detainees in Israel.
The small Arab Gulf country is an ally of the U.S. and has played a key role in negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian militant group.
