Chris Rock said something that many people were thinking

A Conversation with Rock during his First Special, Selective Outrage, airs on Netflix. Listen to the Teaser Trailer for the Special Event on Netflix Streaming

In the first 50 minutes of the special, Rock spoke on a wide array of topics, including addiction, abortion, racism in America, the royal family, and more.

On Saturday, Rock’s latest special, “Selective Outrage,” will mark the first global live event to stream on Netflix. A teaser trailer for the special shows Rock sitting in a dressing room when he gets a knock at the door, announcing, “Chris, they’re ready for you.”

Some White guests made comments about how shocked they were at the result of the election at an election night party in a skit.

There have been many appearances on the talk show by Rock. At the time, Letterman was recovering from a public scandal after admitting he had been in intimate relationships with some female staffers. The host of the show was ill and lost his voice, so Rock asked why he hadn’t taken a few days off.

A wife is still mad at her husband. Rock joked. “Why drive back to Connecticut to a mean woman? I might as well just stay and do the show, and not speak. I love you. I been there, Dave. I get sick on the road. And if my wife is mad at me I add a few shows.”

Rock said that you are in a band when you are in a relationship. “And when you’re in a band, you have roles that you play in the band. You can sing lead or tambourine. And if you’re on tambourine, play it right … ‘cause nobody wants to see a mad tambourine player.”

“That s— was about fame. O.J would be in jail right now if he wasn’t famous. The bus driving murderer would be O.J. if he drove a bus.

Rock said that he was getting hit by Shug Smith. “It still hurts. I heard Summertime in my ears. I am not a victim, baby. You will never see me cry on TV. I took that hit like Pacquiao.”

The wokeness is something I have no problem with. I have no issue with it at all. I’m all for social justice. I like that marginalized people are able to get their rights. The issue I have a problem with is the outrage. “You know what i’m talking about. A person is canceled for doing something. Somebody else does the exact same thing, nothing. You know what I’m talking about … the kind of people who play Michael Jackson songs but won’t play R. Kelly. Same crime, one of them just has better songs.”

It was worse than it was in Ukraine. I said that. You know why? Because Ukraine is united and America is clearly divided,” Rock joked. “If the Russians came here right now, half the country would say, ‘Let’s hear them out.’ We’re in bad shape right now.

The End of the Oscars: When Will Smith… Drank Them ‘Tilted Away!’” Rock Explained to Doja Cat

He said he was trying to date women who were 15 to 20 years younger than him. “Don’t hate the player, hate the game. I didn’t get rich and stay in shape to talk about Anita Baker. I’m trying to suck at Doja Cat.

A pre-show event kicked off with comedian Ronny Chieng live from Los Angeles, where he told the crowd, “We could have pretaped this whole thing and nobody would have cared, but we are doing this for a noble cause: To finally try to kill off traditional TV and put it out of its misery. If you listen hard, Baby Boomers will cancel the last cable subscription packages.

The last eight minutes or so of the special was devoted to Rock’s reaction to Smith’s assault on him at the Oscars, with the comic unleashing a torrent of expletives and bile while arguing that the actor was reacting to the criticism he had taken for.

Before Saturday night, it seemed as if Smith had mostly climbed out of the public relations hole he dug for himself by slapping Rock, apologizing publicly several times while admitting the comic hadn’t responded to his attempts to reach out. Rock didn’t speak publicly about the incident, so Smith may have been able to rebuild his image.

In fact, the comic got so excited he messed up one joke, saying at first Jada wanted him to quit hosting the Oscars in 2016, because Will didn’t get nominated for Emancipation (the movie was actually Concussion, one of the omissions which fed the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag).

Rock also said he was once a huge fan of Smith’s, but the slap had him watching the actor’s movies, like his Civil War-era drama Emancipation, much differently. The comics said that they watch Emancipation to see him get beaten. “Got me rooting for massah!”

Rock insisted that he was not a victim, despite being slapped live on television by a much larger man, and that there might be some shame in that designation due to the fact that he had earlier talked about how too many people seek attention by unfairly claiming.

It was a dramatic end to a standup special that often felt less groundbreaking than the hype surrounding it suggested. For an hour, Rock held forth on an array of topics, some of which felt like they could have come from a special years ago – including jokes about the Kardashians, O.J. Simpson and Meghan Markle.

Some jokes like complaining about the outrage people feel when they dance to Michael Jackson but don’t play R. Kelly’s music were a little odd.

Women should have the right to kill a baby when it’s four years old. On being a divorced single guy dating younger women: “I didn’t get rich and stay in shape to talk to Anita Baker. I’m trying to hit Doja Cat. “Beyonce is so fine, that if she worked at Burger King, she could still marry Jay-Z.” If Jay-z worked at Burger King, that’s a good thing.

What Rock Did About The January 6 Riots: A Laughter-Producing Compilation of a Comic Comedy Prodigy

Rock prowled the stage with energy and practiced coolness, even while admitting that he’d gotten his daughter kicked out of a tony high school to teach her a lesson, saying that she, his ex-wife and their lawyer were likely finding out.

Rock is a comedy pro so he did a lot of his comedy in a fun and poignant way.Including his reflections on having a mother who was born in segregation who is now able to visit her granddaughter studying at a cooking school in France. He noted that the January 6 riots were by white men who were already overthrowing the government.

It didn’t help that Netflix hyped the show with both pre and post-concert specials that felt a bit labored. Hosted by Ronny Chieng, David Spade and Dana Carvey, the specials featured tons of appearances from celebrities like Bono (singing Jailhouse Rock before Rock’s show, as one does), Rosie Perez, Matthew McConaughey, Arsenio Hall, Leslie Jones, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and more.
