Harris is trying to make Trump look bad by showing him as unhinged

While campaigning in Erie, Pa., Vice President Harris tried to get her opponent’s attention to some of the most extreme threats he has made on the trail.

The 30-second clip showed Trump suggesting that they should be jailed or dealt with violently for being the enemy from within. Harris’ use of the clips is a sign she plans to ratchet up warnings about Trump in the homestretch.

Trump has long used authoritarian language and praised authoritarians, but lately he has gone a step further, saying that police violence could curb crime, and that he would use the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to detain or deport people.

On Fox News on Sunday, Trump was asked if he thought Election Day would be peaceful. He talked about using the National Guard or the regular military to deal with issues caused by his ideological opponents.

The people from within are the bigger problem. We have some very bad people. People are sick. Left is a radical left. Lunatics. If necessary, it should be easily handled by the National Guard or the military. Harris used that scene in her film.

The “enemies from within” were named by Trump, and they include Adam Schiff, who is running for the Senate. The Trump campaign did not respond to the NPR requests about his comments on the National Guard or military being used against Americans.

Harris has been making a push to appeal to moderate Republicans and independent voters in states like Pennsylvania where polls show the candidates are essentially tied.

She has said she would reach across the aisle if she wins to put a Republican in her cabinet and would name a bipartisan council to advise her. She has campaigned with former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney, and other prominent Republicans have endorsed her as well.

Harris’ medical report stated that she was in excellent health. She is using it to draw a contrast with Trump, who is almost two decades older than her – and as a way to raise questions about his rambling speeches.

She claims that Trump’s advisers were trying to hide him from undecided voters when they decided to skip a second debate. Trump is slated to do two town halls this week — one with Latino voters on Univision, the second on Fox News on Wednesday with an audience of women.

“I know where our church, and my church is about saying true leadership, the measure of that is based on who you lift up,” Harris said. He’s trying to understand the community by selling $60 Bibles or tennis shoes, and playing with people. Come on.”

Harris responded to criticism from Trump for not engaging with the black church. She spoke about how she grew up in the Black church, and also attended the 23rd Avenue Church of God.

Harris was the most progressive prosecutor in California on marijuana cases, she said. Harris said she did not send people to jail for simple possession of marijuana, and vowed that as president she would work on decriminalizing marijuana altogether.

Harris said that former President Donald Trump was a threat to democracy, defended her track record as a prosecutor, and promoted her policies aimed at Black voters.

Harris said her plans could help Black Americans in several ways, including tax breaks for small business start-ups, and helping low- and middle-income families with home care.

Harris’ remarks came at a crucial moment in the campaign, as polls show her struggling to cement the level of support she may need from Black men to win the White House. Democrats worry that Trump could win the election, because he has appeared to make inroads among Black voters.

Harris said that he faces one of the biggest challenges. It is meant to convince people that the work that I have done does not mean anything, because they should not think so.

The concern was underscored by the remarks of former President Barack Obama. He said the lack of enthusiasm for Harris “seems to be more pronounced with the brothers,” which he attributed to a reluctance to vote for a woman.

“Why can’t we just say it”, when Charlamagne suggested that Trump’s vision for the country should be called fascist. Harris replied: “Yeah, we can say that.”

Vice President Harris was at a town hall in Detroit on Tuesday, where he tried to address accusations of Democrats taking Black voters for granted.
