Russian Arms, Tanks and Ambush Protected Vehicles as a Force to Protect Ukraine from the Warped Front of the Second World War
In the past the US has given Ukrainians Mine resistant Ambush Protected vehicles and armored utility vehicles. The US also paid for the refurbishment of Soviet-era T-72 tanks.
Biden and Scholz stated their determination to provide the necessary financial, humanitarian, military and diplomatic support toUkraine for as long as is necessary, a statement read.
Russia has intensified its attacks on civilians in Ukraine. President Zelensky visited the White House last month, and called on western nations to protect against Russian aggression. The support is an investment in global security and democracy, he said.
Those systems had been at the top of Zelensky’s wish list because it will allow his military to target Russian missiles flying at a higher altitude than they were able to target previously.

Reznikov says in the past, most Western allies have turned down weapons requests for practical reasons, such as difficulty in finding spare parts. He says when he asks allies about the F-16, they cite “a very long training period for [Ukrainian] pilots.” He says he can offer a powerful counter-argument by proving that Ukrainian troops can carry out shorter, very intensive training on other weapons.
There are some training courses that we can offer in Europe. “It’s more convenient because we have to use a similar landscape and we have to have similar weather conditions.”
“For the Leopard tanks, for example, [training] normally could be half a year. He hopes that we can do it within a month or two months.
“I’m sure that’s absolutely realistic,” he says about the F-16s, noting that in the past, Ukraine has also secured other weapons that at first seemed out of reach, including HIMARS and Patriot air defense missiles.
On Monday, President Biden suggested that the US wouldn’t give F-16s to Ukrainians, while Chancellor of Germany said that the question of combat aircraft did not arise.
Russia, meanwhile, has accused the West of taking a more direct role in the war by sending more sophisticated weapons to Ukraine. That’s caused tension within NATO and the European Union. Croatia’s President Zoran Milanovic told reporters that supplying arms to Kyiv will only prolong the war and that it’s “mad” to expect Russia’s defeat. And Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban said Ukraine’s Western backers had “drifted into war.”
He knows the Western allies are looking at the government in Ukraine closely. Ukrainian journalists recently reported that Reznikov’s own ministry was sometimes purchasing food and other supplies for troops at inflated prices.
Before the Russian invasion, most defense ministry expenses were public. Most are classified for security reasons. He says transparency is a delicate issue during wartime, but he is working with parliament to change laws and make defense expenditures at least “semi-transparent.”

He says it’s not a piece of cake, but that he will do it. “Because my principle is zero tolerance for corruption.” We have to be a new Ukraine, with the European standard, not the old-fashioned Soviet Ukraine with a legacy of corruption.”
Ukrainian officials have warned for some time of a renewed Russian offensive and have asked for more powerful weaponry from Western allies to counter the threat.
In an interview with Sky News Tuesday, Oleksiy Danilov, the secretary of Ukrainian’s National Security and Defense Council, said that these would be defining months in the war.
Natalia Humeniuk said on television that the center of security and defense force of the south of Ukraine is also in the air and on the sea.
“During the week, military representatives from the two countries will practice joint planning of the use of troops based on the prior experience of armed conflicts in recent years,” the ministry said in a statement.
During a news conference with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte in Rotterdam on Monday, it was confirmed that the Leopard tanks had been delivered.
Some background: The Western main battle tanks bring greater firepower and survivability at a time when tank warfare has become an important part of the conflict.
Hamish de Bretton Gordon, former commanding officer of the 1st Royal Tank Regiment in the British Army, says the Challengers being sent by the UK are vastly superior to anything the Russians have, such as the T-72 tanks.
The rate at which the Leopard 2 is being used has an advantage. The NATO armies have a wide range of available bullets for the 120mm gun.
