She is raising money for her indictment defense fees

The FBI is looking for a Way to Get Trump’s Legal Team Out of the Dark Sector of the Georgian Voting Problem (Extended Version)

Ellis and other members of Trump’s legal team tried to have Georgia’s 2020 presidential election results changed. If Trump is found guilty, he will not be allowed to pardon himself or his companions under the state’s constitution.

There was an effort to steal election data in Coffee County in which Trump allies obtained access to a voting machine, and hired an IT firm to look for widespread voter fraud, which did not exist.

Several individuals who allegedly participated in that plan are also facing charges, including former Coffee County Election Supervisor Misty Hampton and Cathy Latham, a former Republican Party official in Coffee County.

Under Georgia’s RICO Act, prosecutors can only prove that the defendants were associated in fact as opposed to being involved in a formal enterprise.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis wants to try the 19 defendants together which could pose a lot of logistical challenges.

Defendants could choose to petition the court to argue that they won’t get a fair trial as a group and ask for their cases be separated from some or all of the others, according to NBC News.

They could also try to have the case moved from state to federal court, says Stephen Gillers, a professor emeritus at the New York University School of Law.

Gillers said that a change in location would likely benefit the defendants since a jury would be picked from a more conservative area. Plus, he adds, it could delay the case for several months.

The federal court could either send it back to state court or keep it, as he predicts a real fight over that in the next two months.

This is the first indictment that Trump has ever received, and it would be a first if he entered a plea and took fingerprints. The defendants could be charged with a crime together or individually.

“America and the profession of law is worth the fight”: a campaign to support Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis on Truth Social

A conservative media figure and former attorney for Donald Trump has started a cause to raise funds for her defense expenses after being indicted along with 17 other people.

Ellis posted a link to her campaign on X, which is a social media platform that was formerly known as TWITTER, with a quote from an attorney.

We will fight for him. If you would like to help us out, please donate by clicking the link below. “America and the profession of law are worth the fight.”

NPR reached out multiple times to the owner of a law firm in Denver, but did not hear back before publication after attempting to verify the quote and representation of Ellis.

As of midday Wednesday afternoon, Ellis had raised more than $13,000, according to the crowdfunding page. She’s also managed to raise more than 1,000 prayers, as the site provides the option for supporters to send those her way as well as financial donations.

Ellis is supporting Ron DeSantis in the GOP primary. She described DeSantis as the “right choice” with “excellent rationale” on Trump’s social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday.

Ellis was censured by Colorado legal officials last March after she admitted to making 10 “misrepresentations” during Trump’s attempts to stay in power after he lost the 2020 presidential election, The Associated Press reported.
