The abortion issue is already playing out on the campaign trail

Reply to Senator Lindsey Graham and Donald Trump on Proposal for the Reproductive Health Care Act (RHSRA) Appellatelate in the House

Donald Trump has spoken about his support for the procedure. Senator Lindsey Graham has been a leader of the Republican party. How do you reconcile the statements they’ve made about this with what you’re saying?

They’re covering their sissy on this. They are trying to hide themselves. The ones that pass the legislation are them. They are the people who put the justices on the bench that are passing the rulings. And by the way, it’s not just Alabama, families all across this country are not protected in terms of their access to reproductive health care.

I’ve been talking about this for years now and said, “Listen, we have a problem here.” We discarded three of the five eggs that we fertilized because they were deemed non-viable and I wouldn’t have had a baby with all three of them. And my doctor in 2013 said, “Tammy, with these personhood amendments, these personhood definitions that these groups are pushing for, I could be convicted of manslaughter or murder for throwing out those three non-viable eggs, and so we could no longer practice reproductive medicine.”

Tammy Duckworth is black. I have struggled for about 10 years with infertility after serving my country in Iraq. It was through in-house fertilization that I was able to have my two beautiful girls, Abigail and Maile Pearl. It took me 10 years to get to the point where I have these beautiful girls, thanks to many fertility treatments.

Arizona, abortion politics are already playing out on the Senate campaign trail: comments on Lake’s claims of stolen elections to the Alabama Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade

On social media, they post snippets of statements Lake has made in the past – everything from her false claims of stolen elections to her support of the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

On tape, Lake says it will ban abortion in Arizona only to save a mother’s life. “And I think we’re going to be paving the way and setting a course for other states to follow.”

Lake said she’d advocate for increased access to fertility treatment for women trying to get pregnant in the Senate. IVF helps a lot of families experience the joy of having children.

Gallego points to the Alabama Supreme Court ruling as the latest example of Republicans, like Lake, claiming to support reproductive freedoms. Their actions, like the Senate’s appointment of three Supreme Court justices who voted to overturn the law, don’t match the rhetoric.

How can you choose someone who only months ago said it’s okay to arrest abortion providers if you want to? “I can’t say anymore.” Gallego asked.

Lake could not be reached for comment on her position on abortion. She did not talk about the issue during her speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

On the Progress of Abortion Rights in Arizona, as Predicted by Rep. Kirsten Sinema and Kirila Timmaraju

Mini Timmaraju is the president of Reproductive Freedom for All. “Reproductive freedom is going to be the center of the spear.”

Timmaraju said that candidates are seizing on abortion as an opportunity to be proactive on the issue rather than simply oppose abortion bans.

The endorsement of reproductive Freedom for All was not at fault, as they endorsed Democrat-turned-independent Senator Krysten Sinema in her last election.

“So the perfect thing is you have Ruben [Gallego] at the top of the ticket in the state, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris at the top of the ticket nationally,” Timmaraju predicted.

An expected ballot measure to make abortion rights part of Arizona’s constitution is what Timmaraju is counting on. At the moment it’s working with the Gallego campaign as they gather signatures to qualify him for the ballot, and also gather signatures for the abortion measure.

Maryse Waldron has been gathering signatures for Gallego and attended the campaign event with Reproductive Freedom for All. While there isn’t any one issue that’s driving her to support him, she does recognize that the previous warnings of the end of federal protections for abortion rights have come to fruition.

“Well, I’m still learning about that,” Waldron said. “I will have to read through the entire initiative, but from what I understand, I’m supportive of it.”

The Essentials of Memory (with an Emphasis on Hunter Biden’s Case for a New Look into his Father’s Investigation)

She stated that the hard work was tying it all together and making sure people didn’t get distracted by the information about the presidential contest in Arizona.

But Timmaraju said she’s encouraged, as are Democrats nationally, that every time abortion has been on the ballot, voters have consistently voted to protect abortion rights.

Many people at NPR are lifelong learners. It can feel incredibly satisfying to learn a new skill — but it’s not always easy. For learning a new skill, Rommel Wood asked the former Ask Me Another contestants their best advice. Think about something you want to learn and try these tips:

He’s more interested in the things we remember than in the things we forget. Some of the basics of memory are written about in his new book.

Hunter Biden is expected to testify today in the inquiry into his father. House Republicans have been focused on Hunter Biden, who has previously refused to testify.

Thousands of demonstrators protesting the handling of the Gaza conflict in Michigan – The case for an immediate cease-fire and stopping U.S. aid to Israel

Former President Donald Trump handily defeated Nikki Haley last night in Michigan’s Republican primary. President Biden won his contest as well — but division remains among the state’s Democratic electorate. More than 100,000 people cast “uncommitted” votes to protest Biden’s handling of the war in Gaza. The turnout exceeded the 10,000 vote goal set by Listen to Michigan, a group that wants Biden to call for an immediate cease-fire and stop sending U.S. aid to Israel.
