Twitter after the January 6th riot: Musk and the elon-musk-ron-desantis campaign will be reinstated
NBC News claims that Musk has known DeSantis since they met at a party. Both are reportedly close with Sacks, the moderator for Wednesday’s Twitter event. It’s unclear whether Musk plans to endorse DeSantis, despite suggesting he would back the Florida governor last year. On Friday, Musk responded to Sen. Tim Scott’s campaign announcement with a “great statement.”
Tucker Carlson, a popular conservative commentator who hosted Fox News, is moving his posts to the social network. There was a report on Tuesday that said that The Daily Wire would be putting all of its podcasts on the platform by the end of the month.
Musk has gained significant support from Republicans who have spent the last few years accusing social sites of wrongly censoring conservatives. Throughout his presidency, Trump championed these criticisms and was ultimately banned from mainstream platforms, including Twitter, following the deadly January 6th riot at the US Capitol. Shortly after taking over the company, Musk restored Trump’s Twitter account after posting a poll asking his followers for input on the decision. “The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated,” Musk tweeted at the time.

Tracking Elon Musk‘s Private Jet with Government-owned Flights and Taxes: DeSantis’s Twitter Page Following Florida’s Gost
DeSantis’ planned announcement comes as his polling numbers against former President Donald Trump have faltered. According to a recent Morning Consult poll, DeSantis is currently polling at 20 percent of GOP primary voters, nearly 15 percent lower than his December 2022 numbers.
Lindsey Curnutte, a DeSenatis spokesperson, confirmed the event in an email to The Verge Tuesday. Twitter responded to a request for comment Tuesday with the company’s customary poop emoji auto-reply.
A version of the account is back up but provides tracking information on Musk’s jet with a 24-hour delay. The page following DeSantis’s jet is also delayed by one day.
Jack Sweeney, the 20-year-old who created the popular Twitter page tracking billionaire Elon Musk’s private jet, recently debuted the new account following the Florida governor.
The Twitter account notes that tracked flights “do not guarantee that DeSantis is onboard.” A major at the University of Central Florida said he may try to track any flights the Republican nominee takes on private planes with his political donors.
It’s not uncommon for governors — especially those in large states — to take government-owned planes or helicopters on official business. Critics have criticized the way he’s used taxpayer funded aircraft in the past.
“It was on my list to do, and with all the things going on, I thought it would be good to bring transparency there to everybody and bring my abilities for everyone else to see where the jet is going,” Sweeney said.
He said he had been intending to create an account following Florida’s government jet and eventually got around to it, given the buzz around the expected Republican presidential hopeful.
