Donald Trump: Why he shouldn’t be a candidate for the post-term election term, but instead should he be the anti-Trump candidate
Candidates should not be afraid of attacking Donald Trump. While it’s true that Mr. Trump has an iron grip on more than 30 percent of the electorate, the other 60 percent or so is open to moving forward with a new nominee. Mr. Trump doesn’t need to explain his weaknesses. Candidates with compelling stories, records and polling have a responsibility to show voters that they’re willing to take on Mr. Trump. Chris Christie needs to show voters that he is more than the anti-Trump candidate and broaden his message, as he has done with Mr. Trump’s weaknesses.
Iowa and New Hampshire are the first two places where Donald Trump is beatable. Ignore national polls that show he’s ahead of the pack. It’s a reflection of the national conversation and who is top of mind.
