Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks in the first black starting game of the Super Bowl – An interview with James Eagles
The Super Bowl will feature two black starting quarterbacks for the first time when the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs face off.
The Eagles’ quarterback passed therecord for most rushing touchdown by a quarterback in a single season as he led his team to a 31-8 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
“You work really hard to put yourself in this position and I’m forever grateful. Only God knows the things that each individual on this team has been able to overcome for us to come together as a team and do something special as a group.
“That’s what means the most. I don’t want to let down the guy next to me and so I always want to give my all, even if it is just for a moment.
Philadelphia defeated the San Francisco 49ers. After the Eagles won the game, Williams sat there.
Kansas City came down to make a field goal in the final seconds against Cincinnati to win 23-20.
The first black quarterback to win a Super Bowl: Doug Williams and the first black player to win two Super Bowls and one he didn’t win
“When that ball went through the uprights, I can tell you this — cold chills went through my body, and I got a little emotion,” Williams said in an interview with NPR’s All Things Considered. “There wasn’t no tears running, but I had eyes full of water.”
And of course, there’s Doug Williams, the first Black quarterback taken in the first round of the draft, the first Black quarterback to start and win a Super Bowl, and the first Black quarterback to be named Super Bowl MVP.
“They felt black men were inferior, and Black quarterbacks could not lead white players in the NFL, and they just weren’t smart enough to do so,” said author of the book Rise of the Black Quarterback: What It Means.
Both acknowledged the long history of Black quarterbacks who fought for their chance to play this weekend.
Now, I am happy we can set the stage for kids that are coming up now because the guys that came before me and Jalen did a good job. It’ll be a great game against two great teams and against another great quarterback. I’m ready to go out there and play my part against a great team.
The majority of leadership positions were held by White players, while Black players were left out in the cold.
He led the University of Washington to a Rose bowl victory in 1978 and didn’t get an itch from the National Football League. Moon had six years in the Canadian Football League where he won five straight titles. Moon was named to the Pro Bowl nine times after he switched to the NFL.
Moon wrote last week that he was proud to see the first two African American quarterbacks face each other in a Super Bowl. “We have come a long way.”
Williams was never drafted by an NBA team before he graduated college. He was for a time the lowest-paid starting quarterback in the league. Despite his Super Bowl heroics, his career ended soon after.
“At least I was given the opportunity and was able to do something with it,” said Williams, who is now a senior adviser to the president of the Washington Commanders. “It’s a bittersweet situation. But we like the sweet at this time.
“By that point, you start to see more of an acknowledgement that, look, these guys are here, and they can play. “If they can help us win, we need to look to do that,” he said.
Credit for big wins was given to other players while blame for losses came easily. White commentators speculated if the praise for the quarterback had been inflated due to a desire for good publicity.
Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, and the Philadelphia Eagles: Who’s going to win? How the Eagles have made it through the playoffs
Newton replied that he had no tattoos or piercings, to which Richardson responded, “Good. We want to keep it that way. A white tight end on the team had tattoos.
These days, there’s no disputing the talent of Patrick Mahomes, the 27-year-old who is on the precipice of his third Super Bowl appearance and second MVP award in just five years in the starting job. His highlight reel heroics have changed the possibilities for quarterback play in the NFL.
Meanwhile, Jalen Hurts is the biggest star of the Philadelphia Eagles, arguably the league’s most talented team, who have cruised through the playoffs to this Super Bowl berth.
“It’s like having Michael Jordan out there. He’s your leader,” said Eagles coach Nick Sirianni after the team’s first playoff game last month. “This guy leads. He brings this calmness to the entire team. He plays a game of football. He’s very tough when they come.

The Final Game of the Chiefs vs. the Eagles: Travis and Jason Kelce in the Superbowl at State Farm Stadium
Doug Williams said that there is still progress to be made for Black men, especially on the sideline where it has been difficult to get a black coaching staff.
The audio interview was produced and edited by the duo. The audio interview was edited by Patrick Jarenwattananon and produced by Gabriel O’Connor.
Black people and women are still not fully represented in the management ranks of the NFL. This is important for a number of people, especially Black people and women.
This year, in a rivalry so poignant it could be fiction, brothers Travis and Jason Kelce will face each other when the Chiefs and the Eagles meet at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on February 12. It is the first time in NFL history that two brothers play against each other in a Super Bowl.
The siblings will play on the same side of the ball but won’t take to the field at the same time.
These guys are facing off, they are clearly very tight, it is kind of great to see. Wyche explained that they went to the same university to play before going to the NFL.
This will be similar to Venus and Serena Williams playing against one another, in that they will be squaring up against each other.
The fact that he plays against his brother in the ultimate game in his last game probably makes this the best game of his life.
They are going to be telling jokes about everything else. There will be a mixed bag of emotions in the immediate aftermath.
Super-Bolt Histories and Donna’s Joy: The Los Angeles Rams’ Van Jefferson Revealed After the Super Bowl
the Pro Football Hall of Fame states that Donna will become the first mother to have two sons play against each other in the same Super Bowl, as a result of the game between the two sons.
“They’ve already got the first win under their belts, so this is just going to be pure joy. We’re going to really enjoy this, have a great time,” she told the Today Show.
There is going to be someone that is going to go home and not be happy. The event is going to be great and I’m looking forward to it, but they won’t have the bragging rights at the Thanksgiving table.
He said that his wife is pregnant and he will be taking her doctor with him to the game, just in case.
However, having a baby on the day of the Super Bowl would not be a first. Van Jefferson, who plays for the Los Angeles Rams, found out that his wife was in labor while he was celebrating a victory.
He said that he was overcome with joy when he found out his wife was expecting and that she attended most of the game until she had to leave.
