Norway’s Parliament on Tuesday voted to allow mining companies to search a large area of Norwegian waters for minerals used in electric cars, mobile phones, and solar panels. Norway is the first country to allow deep-sea mining in its continental shelf. Environmentalist Anne-Sophie Roux termed the outcome of the vote as a “half victory”.
