The ray-finned fish brain has an exceptional fossil preservation.
Paleontologists have discovered at least four new actinopterygian fins in fishes. These fins are the first to be found in any vertebrate and only the seventh to have been found so far. The newly discovered fins belong to a new genus, Actinopterygians, which was found last year in a fossil jawless fish from China.
