Hilary is the first tropical storm in more than 80 years to hit California
Hurricane Hilary has been downgraded to a Category 4 storm, with winds of up to 140 kilometres per hour. It is expected to make landfall in the California and Nevada territories on Wednesday. Hilary is expected to cause “rare and dangerous flooding” in parts of Southern California and Nevada, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.
