Earth’s surface temperature rose by 0.3C in 2024 compared to the start of the century, a new study has shown. Further, ocean temperatures rose by 0.5C, while sea-surface temperatures rose by 1C in 2024, the study found. It added that climate change intensified food shortages, impaired shipping routes and disrupted hydropower generation in some regions.
