Amid COVID-19 spread, the US is facing a shortage of paediatric ICU beds. The Illinois Department of Health said that 289 licensed intensive care beds are available in the state. However, because of staff shortages, hospitals may not have enough nurses to keep that many beds open for patients, a critical care specialist said.
