US lawmakers have asked tech platforms to stop using Section 230 as an excuse not to protect users from “malicious deepfakes” and “digital forgeries” on their platforms. “Congress should ensure that tech platforms don’t use Section 230 to hide the spread of malicious deepfakes and digital forgeries on their platforms,” Republican Senator Lamar Alexander said.
