The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification global initiative said that malnutrition is “imminent” in Yemen’s northern governorates and is expected to occur anytime between mid-March and May 2024. The report said that high acute malnutrition rates among children under 5, significant excess mortality and an “intent to starvation” could lead to a famine.
