The US Senate has introduced the Artificial Intelligence Environmental Impacts Act of 2024, which would help establish standards for assessing environmental impact of artificial intelligence (AI). The bill directs National Institute for Standards and Technology to help establish standards for assessing the environmental impact of AI and create a voluntary reporting framework for operators.
