The Ruling of Tate’s Residence: A Case Study of Online Violence Against a Female Kickboxer and the Murder of a Model in Romania
Andrew Tate, a former professional kickboxer, is known for his viral rants online about male dominance, female submission and wealth. He had previously been banned from all major social media platforms because he advocated violence against women, until Musk took over the company.
Reports confirmed by various U.S. outlets state that Tate’s residence in Romania was raided by police on April 11, after a complaint of a woman being held captive in the house.
For $49 a month, anyone can earn thousands per month through skills like copywriting and buying NFTs plus recruiting others to the community for a commission fee. An ad for the course claims that Hustlers University has over 168,000 active students, some as young as 13.
The group has been accused of using a scheme in which the British citizens would pretend to have a romantic relationship with the victims, and then use a combination of physical violence and psychological coercion to get them to go to Romania. According to local news outlet G4 (via The Daily Beast), the material was then sold online via sites like OnlyFans, bringing in money the suspects used to buy cars, houses, and cryptocurrency.
Search for a man held at the Tate’s residence in Romania, after a letter to the embassy from the 23 July 2011 incident
This is the third time investigators have been to the location after a complaint to the embassy claimed an American was being held at the Tates’ residence. The brothers were also questioned before being released. In the months since, prosecutors have been gathering evidence and waiting to catch up to the Tate brothers while they were in the country.
There was speculation online that authorities were alerted to Tate’s presence in Romania by the appearance of a particular pizza box in one of the photos he posted in his spat with Thunberg.
Gndul reported that police were called after seeing something on social networks that the brothers were in Romania.
DIICOT also shared its own video of the raid, with blurred images of luxury cars that appear to match the ones Tate has displayed in his videos, as well as items like guns, knives, and money.
Authorities in Romania said police served search warrants at five homes and detained four suspects, — – two Britons and two Romanians – as part of an investigation into organized human trafficking and rape. They did not name any of those detained.
Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) said the four suspects had been detained for an initial 24 hours. It asked a Bucharest court on Friday for the detentions to be extended to 30 days, according to Reuters.
DIICOT released a video that appeared to show the raids. A man is being patted down by police. The video has a man being held in it.
In a separate video aired by CNN affiliate Antena 3, officers from the crime agency can be seen escorting Andrew and Tristan Tate into police vehicles.
The suspects tricked the victims into believing they were going to get married and then sexually abused them in Romania, according to the authorities.
The King of Toxic Masculinity: What has he learned in his 21st year? When he found out, he quit Twitter
Many adults including school teachers were alarmed by his misogynistic ideas when he rose in prominence earlier this year. Before it was taken down, his TikTok account racked up about 11.6 billion views.
Tate made headlines this week after he was told to get a job by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, who said he should have stopped using his cars after he criticized them.
The man at the center of everything has been a big draw for such questions. One of the “internet’s most controversial figures” and the “top G”, he was dubbed the King of Toxic Masculinity.
The latest news is he’s been arrested on charges of human trafficking, rape and forming an organized crime group.
In 2016, he tried his hand at reality TV, but was kicked off the British version of Big Brother over a video of him hitting a woman with a belt. Tate said the video had been edited to make him look bad.
On social media, Tate became a vocal supporter of former President Trump and was spotted around Washington, D.C., with prominent conspiracy theorists and on right-wing talk shows like Infowars.
After styling himself as a self-help influencer for men, he was banned from Twitter in 2017 for saying women should bear responsibility for being sexually assaulted. His account was restored this November after Musk took over the platform.
Tate has said that women shouldn’t drive a car and that they should not be allowed to stay in the home. He said he likes to date people his age because they are more impressionable.
His style is very popular with the Gen Zers. One survey conducted by the investment bank Piper Sandler this fall found that Tate ranked as the favorite influencer among those under 18.
Slave of the matrices: An arrest warrant for Tate, a serial sex-of-the-Matrix black slave in Romania
On Tuesday, he posted a picture of himself standing next to a car with the caption, “Hello GretaThunberg.” I have 33 cars. […] Please provide your email address so I can send a complete list of my car collection and their respective enormous emissions.”
Tate then posted a video of himself seated in a paneled room, wearing a Versace robe, smoking a cigar, describing Thunberg as a bitter “slave of the matrix” who’s trying to “convince you to beg your government to tax you into poverty to stop the sun from being hot.”
Midway through the video, he gestures off camera, asking someone to bring him pizza. “Make sure that the blue and red logo of Jerry’s Pizza is visible on the boxes as they are put down on the table,” he remarked as he put the two pies down on the table.
Local and international journalists said the boxes were proof that Tate was in the country, as they watched the video of his alleged arrest.
Several have since walked back that claim, saying they merely made an assumption. NPR asked for more information from the authorities in Romania.
Tate said in the video that 40% of his motivation for moving was because the police were less likely to look into sexual assault allegations.
On Friday morning, Tate appeared to tweet about the incident, using a reference to The Matrix that’s become a signature of his Hustlers University philosophy.
Tate’s arrest warrant was extended by 30 days, according to the AP. He’ll be held in a holding center while authorities investigate, but the decision could be appealed at any time.
