Privacy and Security in Artificial Intelligence Efforts for the Next-Generative AI Algorithms of the Apple Operating System
Apple will also offer smaller generative AI algorithms that run on devices. It says these algorithms will be snappier and better protect users’ data. It will be a challenge for the company to balance privacy and security with greater use of generative artificial intelligence.
Craig Federighi, senior vice president of software engineering, at Apple said the company will be focusing on privacy and security in its new Artificial Intelligence strategy. Federighi introduced a technology called Private Cloud Compute, which protects data even for more intensive AI tasks that necessitate the cloud. “Your data is never stored or made accessible to Apple,” he said.
Users will be able to speak to the virtual assistant easily in the next version of the OS. You will be able to type to get things done instead of just talking, according to the company.
Stop me if you’ve heard this one, but Apple is rolling out new email-writing suggestions and text summaries. In Mail, while typing out a message, you can have Siri write it for you and ask it to change its tone. The company says that writing features like this are available system-wide, anywhere you can type.
When you can’t find the one you want, Apple is launching a new feature called “Genmoji” that will create a face for you on the fly, using Artificial Intelligence. There is a new image generation feature coming to the mobile operating system. Apple says the feature works in several apps but it has its own app by the same name. It will allow developers to include Image Playground on their devices.
Artificial Intelligence is going to be incorporated into the Photos app. You can already search for objects pictured in your library, but Apple says it’s improving how this works in the future, so you can search for things like a person who is doing cartwheels. It adds features like the ability to remove a person from a photo.

Apple says Siri’s updated design makes it more prominent across the device, displaying a glowing multi-colored border on the screen when in use. Siri is also more capable of understanding users when they stumble on their words while speaking to the assistant and can maintain the context of the conversation between requests — making an event for a specific location after providing weather information about that place, for example.
Users can also now type their questions and requests to Siri by double-tapping on the bottom of the screen and can continue those actions via both typing and voice.
There were rumors ahead of WWDC that Apple was working on a deal. On the surface, it doesn’t seem like Apple and OpenAI are bedfellows. Apple tends to move cautiously and carefully when delivering new products, emphasizing attention to detail, obsession with the user experience, and stunning design. Openai is best known for introducing powerful but experimental new tech into the world and watching what people do with it.
