Review of the S23 Ultra, S23+, S27 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S7 FE: Which is the right device for your needs?
It may be a no-brainer if you don’t want a phone that’s too big (the S23 is the smallest of the three) or if you want a stylus (the S23 Ultra is your only option for S Pen use). If you need to ponder which phone is the right one for your needs, take a look at how they compare on paper. The flat edges of the S23 Ultra give it extra grip over the more bulky S23 and S23+. Phantom Black, Green, Cream and Lavender all looked amazing up close, and I was partial to the latter two. Cream and Lavender are replacing the Phantom White and Burgundy options from the S22 Ultra, and as a fan of off-whites and anything purple-adjacent, I’m happy about the change.

We’ll have to put these cameras to the test in the real world to see just how much better they are, but the handful of shots I was able to capture in Samsung’s demo space — including the selfies I grabbed on the 12-megapixel front cam — looked excellent. It felt instantaneous when zooming in and out and playing with the camera settings that come standard on a Samsung phone.
The launch of a mobile device is often carried out iteratively. Too often a shiny phone doesn’t add anything to the list of features that we’ve seen before. If there is a crazy new trick, it’s gimmicky; if there isn’t, well, there’s probably no need to upgrade, right?
The company has other hardware announcements to make, including the S23 series. At the big media event in San Francisco, the company unveiled five new laptops, all with the same name and model number as its new flagship device, the GALAXY Book3. Everything that was announced at the show is here.
The screen of the new devices is made with a material called the Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which is said to be more durable and post-consumer recycled than previous formulas. Apple’s phones have long been made with stainless steel, a choice which improves those phones’ lifespan and scratch resistance. SAMSUNG’s phones have always been made from aluminum, but the choice was made to improve their scratch resistance. The company says it has doubled the number of recycled parts on the S23 Ultra compared to last year and that the S23 line has more recycled components.

The phones are powered by a Exynos chip with 8 gigabytes of RAM and the same as the US, but globally. The chips with the name ” for Galaxy” have a higher clock speed than the base chips and are a bit faster, but there are additional things that can be done to make them better. The cooling chamber is two times larger than the previous one and should keep the phone cooler when gaming. Camera-wise, all three models share the same 12-megapixel ultrawide, a similar 3X optical telephoto camera, and a new 12-megapixel selfie cam.
