Iran launched a sophisticated attack on Israel

State Department Chairman Jeffrey Lewis, Secretary of the State Department Advisory Board, and the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres

The member of the State Department’s International Security Advisory Board, Jeffrey Lewis, said that Iran used land- Attack cruise missiles that could carry a ton of explosives.

He noted that Iran has a lot of missiles that are very capable of reaching Israel. The advantage of being able to shift targets is one that Iran’s drones have over missiles.

Previously, Israel had faced aerial attacks from Hamas and Islamic Jihad, whose rocket arsenal includes short-range (12 to 25 miles) and somewhat inaccurate 122-milimeter rockets of the Grad family, as well as Syrian-made M-302 rockets with a range of about 100 miles. Hamas also has Fajr-5 rockets from Iran and a similar, locally made version of the Fajr-5, both with a range of about 50 miles.

Different versions of that missile were also provided to the Iraqi Popular Mobilization forces according to his post.

Governments in the Middle East, including Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, also issued statements expressing concern and calling for restraint so as not to exacerbate tensions in the region.

On Saturday, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said he condemned Iran’s attack and was “deeply alarmed about the very real danger of a devastating region-wide escalation.”

The G7 leaders said that they stood in solidarity with Israel and that Iran had caused further instability in the region. The G7 is made up of the United States, Canada, Italy, Britain, France, Germany, Japan and the European Union.

Republicans also aim to include language that “holds Iran and its terrorist proxies accountable,” House Majority Leader Steve Scalise announced in a statement released Saturday night.

House Republicans are changing their schedule in order to consider a proposal that would support Israel.

The Israel-Hamas War: Iran’s Inherent Right to Self-Defence Has Ended and the United States Will Not Forget It

The U.S. will not take part in offensive operations against Iran, despite the fact that Biden told Netanyahu they were committed to defending Israel. Since the Israel-Hamas war erupted in Gaza last October, Biden has made clear he does not want the conflict to expand into a broader regional war.

Nearly all of the weapons were intercepted by Israel and its allies, including the United States. According to Israeli Officials, a 7-year-old girl and a military base in southern Israel were damaged when a few of the Iranian missiles made their way through the defenses.

At the United Nations in New York, Iran’s Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani declared the operation was “completely in line with the Islamic Republic’s inherent right to self-defense” after an airstrike in Damascus killed seven IRGC members, including two generals, on April 1. Iran blames Israel for the strike, but Israel has not claimed responsibility for it.

On Sunday, a senior Iranian military official said Iran’s “operation” against Israel had ended and there would be no more attacks coming, according to Iranian state media.

But tensions continue to run high in the Middle East. Israel and other countries will be the focus of the attention in the near future. An Israeli military spokesperson said on Sunday that leaders had “approved operational plans for both offensive and defensive action,” without going into further detail.

Tehran also had a warning for Washington, saying that if the U.S. used any of its assets in the region to assist with an Israeli attack, American personnel and bases would be legitimate targets for future attack. The warning was seen as a way of getting people to fear a bigger regional conflict.

Israel’s Arrow 3 air defense system provided the main protection against Iran’s missiles. The Arrow 3 has been around for several years, but had never faced such an intense onslaught.

The Iran Response to Israel’s Oct. 7 Attack and the Security Situation in the Mid-Industry, U.S. and Middle East

Still, several people suffered from shrapnel wounds after the attack, including a 7-year old Bedouin girl who underwent surgery due to a head wound, the Times of Israel and Haaretz reported. Hagari confirmed the reports.

The Iranian foreign minister said the country notified the U.S. of the attack through Swiss agents, so the strike wouldn’t target American personnel or bases. U.S. officials, however, said there was no notification from Iran prior to the attack on where weapons would be targeting.

Israel claimed that its jets hit a site in southern Lebanon belonging to Hezbollah.

Israel and Hezbollah have been exchanging fire across the border with Lebanon regularly since the surprise Oct. 7 attack by Hamas and Israel’s subsequent invasion of Gaza. Iran has long supplied Hamas with funds and weapons but the White House has not directly linked Iran to the Oct. 7 attack.

Iran’s ambassador to the U.N, Amir Saeid Iravani, said at the meeting that Iran had a right to self-defense under international law. Iravani said his county “does not seek escalation or war in the region,” and did not want to begin a conflict with the U.S.

What that may mean for the way Washington supports its closest ally in the Middle East, and Israel’s approach to maintaining its own security, will be the subject of much discussion and planning over the coming weeks and months.

There are questions in and outside Israel about the recent events in terms of Israel’s ability to deter attacks against it.

ISTANBUL — From President Ebrahim Raisi on down, Iranian officials are heaping praise on the attack the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched against Israel Sunday. The widespread response comes despite Israel saying 99% of Iran’s missiles and drones were intercepted.

Praise for the Iranian attack spread far beyond the country. Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian spoke by phone with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, and some Russian news sites quoted officials who were quick to applaud the attack too.

Israeli media reported that the Nevatim Airbase in southern Israel’s Negev Desert had been struck but no significant damage had been caused. There is no clarity as to whether or not any other damage has been done in Israel.
