Why the ad-supported service has grown complex and hostile towards its customers? An insight from WIRED senior editor Angela Watercutter
The promise of streaming TV was that you could watch whatever you wanted, when you wanted. And for a while, that was mostly true. The nice-guy stuff has been dialed back recently by streaming services. Some companies are changing subscription tiers, raising prices and canceling unprofitable shows. The ad-supported tier is one of the new features of the formerly ad-free service. The corporate shake-ups have resulted in a lot of stuff being removed from the platform.
WIRED senior editor, Angela Watercutter, joins us to talk about why the streamer has grown complicated and hostile towards its customers.
