Dream Track: an AI feature to generate songs in the styles of artists like Charlie Puth, Demi Lovato, Sia and T-Pain

Short-form video became a phenomenon thanks to TikTok’s tools for adding music. Now Google is giving some YouTube Shorts creators an AI feature called Dream Track that can generate songs, including lyrics, melody, and accompaniment, in the styles of seven different artists including Charlie Puth, Demi Lovato, Sia, and T-Pain with a tool called Dream Track.

The new tools are powered by the music generation model from DeepMind. In the accompanying post, the DeepMind subsidiary said tracks can be modified and have a SynthID watermark which can be inaudible to the naked ear. So even if someone adds more noise to a track, compresses it into an MP3 file, or speeds it up, it should theoretically still be possible to tell that it contains AI-generated audio from Lyria.

The reveal of the new tools came just a few days after the announcement of new guidelines for the creation of deepfakes on the platform meant to protect people and music industry partners.

To make a Dream Track clip, you have to enter a prompt like “a ballad about how opposites attract, upbeat acoustic,” and choose which artist the song should be styled on.
